New to the forum, while surfing last night I found you guys, thus this is my first post, so, Greetings to All.

Been checking out MDX's for a while and last night went in to purchase.

The dealer wanted 44,731 for a 05' Touring with Navi & RES, plus:
Wheel Flares
Chrome Side Steps
Wood Knob
Wood Steering Wheel
All Weather Mats and Cargo Tray
Body Side Molding
Towing Package

My question is do you thing this is a fair price?

I am in the middle of MO, so not a lot of Dealers. Been priced for a similiar vehicle in Springfield, MO for 46k, plus it was a demo. The price I listed above comes for a dealer in St Louis. I am in the Army so local dealerships type amminities don't matter a lot to me because I move every two or three years.

Any advice would be appreciated (productive advice that is).
Take care and look forward to reading all the outstanding info you guys share on this forum.

The invoice price for this MDX trim is $39,610.00 + $570.00 destination charge. Dealer holdback is 2% of MSRP and a floor plan fee of 1.5% of MSRP. Subtract these 2 values and you'll get an idea as to how much the dealer paid for this MDX. Go to hondacuraworld.com to get the prices of the accessories you listed. Hondacuraworld.com doesn't charge shipping if you choose ground. Some of these accessories you can install yourself to save money. Dealers charge a premium on installation costs (this is where they make a lot of profit after the sale). If you're not in a hurry, you might try contacting dealerships in a larger city. I bought my MDX in Dallas (I'm stationed in New Mexico). Saved about $5K (I had the 4 dealerships in DFW compete against each other for my business) and got the wheel locks and cargo liner free. Had to drive 650 miles to New Mexico but that's fine because that took care of the break-in period.

My advice is only buy the tow pkg. and wood steering from the dealership. Try to get the price at or below $40,000.

Then purchase the other accessories from HondaAcura World. And install them yourself.

Good luck with your purchase!

Thank you gentlemen, it makes sense what you are saying. I will continue to surf this forum and make this happen.

Dealer installed accessories get the full 4yr/50K warranty while self-installed accessories only get a 1 year warranty - that's why it makes sense to have the dealer install certain accessories like the tow package. Just make sure that you get a competitive price.

After weeks of bouncing between dealers, and asking "is that your final offer", I made the purchase last Saturday. I am quite happy with the deal I got and the vehicles performance thus far.
Thanks to those that replied to my post and all the info in the other post I have read on this site.
See ya on roadways.
