Does anyone own and has had experience with the new E815 Motorola phone ?
It was/is being tested (per Acura.com site). Supposedly, it has greater battery life (a plus, as the threads on this site indicate a fairly quick battery drain while connected to BT).

I am expecting mine to arrive by the end of this week from Verizon. Will post experiences with the phone in general as well as with pairing/using with HandsFree Link in the MDX.

I had it narrowed down to the E815 and the LG VX8100. The E815 received much better reviews on www.phonescoop.com and high marks on call clarity, reception and battery life which were important to me.

Anyway, will post findings in a few days.

Good...I am anxious to see its compatability. I do not believe that The LG has been tested by Acura.

I got this phone last week, It works great. great reception, and pairs easily with the MDX. I have had 0 issues so far with the phone and the hands free link on the X. battery life is great, the only thing that wears the battery down faster is when the bluetooth link is ative (I read this in the manual but havent experienced anything yet). Id reccommend this phone to anyone looking for a verizon bluetooth phone.

As expected I received my E815 from Verizon yesterday. Spent some time last night charging it, programming it and getting the phonebook setup. So far I really like the interface and the internal color screen is fantastic. Reception and call clarity are also great. Too early to know about battery life yet. Most report that the battery life is good but as expected gets eaten up a bit quicker when BlueTooth is turned on.

The phone paired very easily with the MDX and I have been using the HandsFree Link quite a bit today... so far it has worked flawlessly and as advertised. No problems at all.

I don't have any experience with the LG VX8100 to compare but I am quite happy with the E815 and if I had it to do over again, I would.

I just received an e-mail from Handsfreelink, stating that initial test results on the E815 are good; and that they have not tested the LG.

I purchased a v815 a couple hours ago and just linked (paired) up the phone with the MDX with success. I was able to call the cell phone and access the HFL (Blue tooth). I am also able to call out through the address book through the Nav screen. Oh, I have a 2005 MDX.

My simple question is: Can I call (dial) from the cell phone and once the call is connected the voice will go through the MDX HLF system. I find it much easier to dial from the phone rather than dealing with the voice recognition system of the MDX.

Since I haven’t spent any time with the e815, do you have any recommendations on how it should be set up....

If it works like the V710 you should be able to dial the handset then press the handsfree button and say transfer. That will transfer the call from the handset to the MDX. Same to transfer the call from the MDX back to the handset

I have 2x V710s and 1x E815 (just got the E815 last FRI, so I am still in my 15day return period at Verizon)....the E815 seems to be the V710 w/ all the kinks worked out and because its all digital, the battery should be longer and indeed seems to be.

E815 paired up quickly and with no problems. Reception on the E815 both as a stand-alone handset and when going through my '05 MDX bluetooth is rock-steady.

So far, it looks like a keeper.

815's a good phone, to be sure. Another advantage over the 710 is that it is an EV-DO phone (as is the 8100) so you will get significantly faster data speeds where Verizon has built up their network. :7:

Purchased the E815. No complaints (so far). Great speakerphone, adequate 1.3 camera, welcome addition (to me) of voice recognition.
No problem with initial set up. Pairing was very smooth, following mdx and Motorola manuals. Debating whether or not to obtain insurance @ $5.99 monthly. I suppose you never know when you might drop the phone or otherwise require servicing outside of the manufacturer's warranty.
