Can anyone recommend a dealer giving good prices in NC or surrounding states?

I'll be in the market after I get back from vacation in about a week and don't want to miss anyone that's good.

Thanks
TGO
I've had great luck at Leith Acura in Cary, NC. Bought both our Acura's there (TL and MDX). I worked with Tom King and would recommend him to anyone. Received a great price on the MDX. TL was a little tougher as it (2004 style) had just come out.

I also give a high-five to Leith Acura in Cary, NC. The whole Leith family of dealerships (from Honda & Toyota to Rolls-Royce!) has a hard rule against selling over MSRP, so even if you buy an '06 right after they come out, you won't feel "had". I've gotton good service, whether just routine or for a problem (a few problems in the 4 years I've had the X, but none that I'd consider serious).

Thanks for the comments. We went for a test drive at Leith Cary the other day. It finalized our decision to get an MDX. We are on vacation next week so when we get back I'll probably blanket the area with emails looking for a deal.

Flow Acura, in Winston-Salem, quoted me $1,500 under invoice.
I contacted the internet sales manager using their web site.

Was that quote "recent" Hokie??

I am currently requesting quotes from several North Carolina and Virginia dealers on Touring Models with Nav and RES...

I sent Flow a request for a quote just now so I will see how they respond..
VA Tech Hokie
rogmandude,

The quote was on July 5th, but the $1,500 incentive is still in place,
so I would think the quote is still there. I sent a note to the
internet manager telling her I had seen where they were offering
the MDX for $1,500 below invoice and she responded to me with
a price of $1,500 below invoice.

Thank You very much for your response Hokie...

I am waiting for the reply from Flow but I will be sure to do the same if I am not quoted 1500 below invoice...

Thanks for the info. On vacation now but will start the hunt for the best price next week.

Hey all. I just registered and found this site. I just put a deposit on a 2005 MDX Touring with NAV/RES. Very good deal from Leith in Fayetteville using internet manager. I had received quotes from Flow and Leith in Raleigh but neither would meet the price I got in Fayetteville. Would recommend them to those of you in NC.

ANYONE OUT THERE IN THE DC METRO AREA??? PLEASE HELP. LOOKING TO BUY A 2005 MDX TOURING. EITHER WITH BOTH DVD & NAVI OR JUST DVD ALONE. WHAT PRICE SHOULD I BE LOOKING TO PAY. I HAVE READ ABOUT THE $1500 MARKETING INCENTIVE YOU HAVE MENTIONED. BUT DO YOU REALLY THINK ANY DEALER AROUND HERE IS GONNA GIVE ME THE CAR AT INVOICE OR BELOW INVOICE WITH THESE CARS SELLING THEMSELVES. PLEASE HELP. LOOKING TO MAKE THE PURCHASE BEFORE JULY ENDS. THANKS A BUNCH!

I was quoted straight invoice price from Flow on the initial quote request and responded with an offer of $1500 below invoice..waiting for the response now.

Thanks justjac for the headsup..I am going to request a quote from the Fayetteville dealer right now...

Justjac...What was the quoted price you got from the Fayetteville dealer??? $1500 below invoice or more in the $1900 below range?

btw..Isnt the Fayetteville Acura dealership a Leith owned dealership as well?

Rogmandude,

I was originally quoted $40,200 for MDX Touring with NAV/RES and dealer installed spoiler. Invoice on this model is 39,610 without the spoiler. I think the spoiler installed is $469. Negotiated on the phone for final deal of $40,000 out the door. This included base price of $37,924 Touring with NAV/DVD
469 Spoiler
398 doc fee
1,136 NC Taxes
57 Tag

$39,984 Total

I am giving them the keys to my 1990 civic as a trade and they are giving me a credit for $500 toward the purchase. Bottom line to me is $39,485. Both leith in Cary and Flow said no to this offer. And yes Fayetteville is also a Leith dealership.

Hope this helps. I think its a pretty good deal considering two others rejected the same offer.
rogmandude
Thank You very much for the information. I will be contacting them for a quote today.

I thought invoice for the Touring Nav/Res was $40180...Was I misinformed?

EDITED: I'm sorry your invoice price does not include $570 Destination Charge...my bad

Stumbled onto this board by luck to find great info, advice! Been shopping for 05 Touring and thought local NC buyers could use the scoop. Performance Acura in Chapel Hill started at 36945 for base no options and went down only to 35400 final offer. They tried to sneak another $400 document fee on top of $62 title/reg fee. Fast and courteous responses but outrageous prices. Not dealing with them. Leith Acura in Cary started 36245 + 400 document fee ... what is this document fee if ~$60 is for tags?? Will expand out to dealers farther away... no dealer so far offering anything close to $1500+ below invoice.

I got Flow to go below invoice on the Navigation model but only by $200 or so..I guess this calls for "tough negotiaton"..

btw Hokie I sent you a PM with a question..

Since I started this thread I'll post my results:

Contacted all NC dealers - Best quote was 478 under invoice, worst was 145 over invoice for a demonstrator with 5,777 miles which they said was still considered 'new'.

Contacted 6 Virginia dealers - Best was 1201 under invoice but unfortunately did not have our color. Worst was 2720 over invoice. This came in after I had closed the deal so didn't question it.

Contacted 1 South Carolina dealer who did not respond.

Contacted 1 West Virginia dealer who did not respond.

Contacted 1 Gerogia dealer who was 362 under invoice

Contacted 3 Florida dealers. Best was the winner at 1530 under invoice. Worst was 500 under invoice.

I went with the Florida dealer who thru in locking lug nuts, splash guards(what the devil are those), and cargo tray.

Some of the quotes had 'documentation fees' ranging from $245 to $399. For example the VA dealer with the best price quoted me 1600 under invoice but under questioning said there was a $399 doc fee so I listed him as 1201 under invoice.

Anyone that gave me a bid I pointed out the Acura 1500 deal, pointed out that other people were getting 1500 under. Generally that got them lower but not much. Either they came out of the gate with a reasonable price or they didn't. The FL guy was ready to deal from the get go.

Some dealers did not respond and some declined to bid. Leith in Cary, NC declined to bid and Performance in Chapel Hill, NC did not respond.

Whew, boy was that fun!

I forgot to say that at Flow Acura, Winston Salem, NC, I mentioned Va Tech Hokie's 1500 under invoice and per the internet guy the 'general manager' said they had never sold one that low. Fits right into the mold many of us have of the car sales person.

Flow Acura negotiated down to 35400 (incl 350 doc fee) + tax + tag for Touring + mat + molding + tray + locks. Same as ~34950 and self installing options from hondaacuraworld. Invoice 35785 + 570 dest - 1500 incent = 34855. So the quote is about 1400 below invoice, more if using dealer option pricing and install charge. They seemed less willing to go down on price and more willing to give free options.

VA Tech Hokie
Holland,

I do have two emails from Flow Acura with a price quote
of $1500 below invoice, but I did not purchase from them.
The most recent quote from them was July 5th.
I purchased my MDX from a dealer located a little closer
to where I live and who matched the Flow Acura quote. I
was not planning to trade at this time, but I saw the Flow Acura
$1,500 below invoice deal on the Edmunds MDX forum and
could not pass up the deal. So, although Flow did not sell to me,
they sold the MDX to others for $1500 below invoice.
Flow's offer was matched immediately by the dealer where
I made my purchase.

During the 1st week of July, which is when I purchased the MDX,
I did not have to negotiate with either dealer to get the $1500
below invoice. Maybe they reduced their inventory and now do
not need to make that type of deal.

Anyway, glad you finally found a good deal.

OK so technically they were right but in my view less than truthful.

I suspect that in June and July the dealers got their inventory down to where it needed to be and they aren't needing to help the MDXs out the door as much. My timing was a little off.

Also on my summary note above I said that the worst bid in Virginia was 2720 over invoice. That was from Karen Bradely. I responded to them that I'd already bought but their price must be a mistake. They answered with a quote of 1255 under invoice. That includes a doc fee so if that came out the quote would be 1500 under invoice.

My wife and I flew to Jacksonville yesterday and picked up the MDX, 34,825 plus tax and tags.

The negotiations with the salesman were smooth and easy via email and phone. From the start of the bid process he was the one that impressed me the most and where I guessed I would get the best price and that turned out to be the case. He picked us up at the airport in an RL and everything was ready when we got to the dealership.

If you are are interested in purchasing in Jacksonville, FL I strongly recommend Marvin Tucker at Acura of Orange Park.
He's the internet sales rep.
