A member found my post about replacing the IAC and pm'd me regarding problems removing the screws holding it in place. Its actually kinda misleading unless you've actually seen this particular photo with both the original on the throttle body and the replacement on the green bag, or studied the factory repair manual;

I found a post where you replaced your IAC. I was wondering what sort of tool you used to undo the screws. At first I thought it was an allen wrench, but that doesn't seem right. Thanks for your help!

The obvious approach is wrong - these are not the ones you are after. These are 5-star security screws and not intended for any mechanic to dissassemble. Most people remove the throttle body before removing the IAC valve, for a good reason.

are attached to the aluminum valve body.
This is the front #1 standard Phillips screw.

You can't see it without a mirror, but you can access it from behind by finger-feel and a Z-shaped screw driver tipped with a #1 Phillips (if you don't have one of these, run out quick and get one, comes in handy in the most frustrating situations).

This is one of the reasons dealer shops charge so much, they remove anything remotely in the way. Start with unclipping the electrical harness & vacuum clip from the rigid tube harness.

From the Intake Hose. Pull all the way back and push it under the frame above the radiator.

If you have any further questions, just ask.

By the way, its very important to obtain the new valve before you remove your existing unit. You will see that the aluminum mounting flangle and precision valving cylinder comes as an integrated unit.

Good Luck
