Hello all -

I am the proud new owner of a 2005 X - Sagebrush Pearl w/nav and DVD - and this is my first posting. What a ride!

I am looking in to getting a few accessories and have already tapped Tim based on the feedback I have seen here. I have also seen the Weathertech Lampgards while surfing the web. According to the Weathertech web site, they are 40-mil. thick poly that sticks to the surface of the headlight. They are supposed to be optically clear and last as long as you own the vehicle. I am guessing they would be good for avoiding a cracked headlight from a stone in the road. Price is $45 to cover the headlights and fog lights. Anyone had any experience with them?

I've been using mine for over 2 years. They never yellow or come loose.
I can see pits in them from debris, but it does not effect the light output at all.
They offer good protection IMHO.
I have them on my fogs too. I have a different brand, might be 3M.
The ones over the fogs have tiny bubbles at the center. Gives you an idea of how warm the fogs get. That's why you never want to run HO lamps in those little cavities.

I'll second the recommendation. I have these on both the X and the TL. Great protection for the money!:4:

I've used the headlamp protection from xpel in the past and just ordered it for my new MDX.

I have the ones from Weathertech on my 2001. I figured they were the same material as the 3M stuff, no? Anyway, they are great on the headlights. 108K miles and still clear as the day I put them on.

Like DaleB, I have them on my fogs too. The ones there have crazing or what looks like bubbles or smearing. I figure its the heat from the fogs (bulbs much closer to lens on fogs). Had I to do it over again, knowing what I know now, I'd just do the headlights and not the fogs. Oh, and it definitely is a job you can do yourself with a hairdryer, Just make sure you get the lights really clean (look around the edges for any dust or bugs) before you start. And try to do it in a clean garage.

FYI, I'm about to get my 4th windshield in the X, but I've never broken a headlight lens.

Now is a good time to get them too. They are easier to put on in warmer weather. I agree, the fogs are optional. And the fog lens should not be too pricey if it does get taken out by a rock, etc.

Many thanks to all of you. I am going to place my order tonight!

Has anyone ever tried the yellow-tinted lamp protection film for their fogs, instead of upgrading/changing to a yellow bulb?

www.rockblocker.com makes a yellow tinted version, but I wonder if it would look cheap or just plain bad? They claim to have an MDX kit, although it's listed as 2001-2006, which can't be accurate given the head and foglight changes that occurred in 2004.

I think it looks pretty good in this photo, but photos don't always represent reality...
