Some Jerk punched my X - Click HERE for Original Thread

I really hate the fact that my first post is going to be some thing totally different from what I have been anticipated.
I am pissed to the third power!!! Over the weekend some jerk must have punched my x and made a noticeable dent in panel behind the passenger door on the driver side. I have taken the x to local body shop for the paintless dent removal process . They told me that they can only do that for dent smaller than golf ball size. I thought I saw in the forum with one of the member who had much bigger dent. They are quoting me $500 to fix the dent. Any body know any reliable paintless dent removal companies in NYC area? Is it true that they can not fix any thing bigger that golf ball size dent?
The overall dent itself is shallow (deeper at the knuckle marks) and it is about 4 inches in width. I see no damages to the paint. Any input in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

See that is a tricky type of dent. There is stretched metal, by the way you described dents with in dents.

I also doubt it can be repaired without paint/bodywork. Also the $500 quote seems about right, because the quarter panel needs repainted from the A pillar by the windshield, above the doors, and to the rest of the quarter panel. Believe me you don't want someone to do just a "spot job".

The "golf ball" comment is just a rule of thumb. Dents bigger can be paintlessly fixed, but only as long as the metal isn't stretched.

If someone punched that hard, DNA evidence will be still there. Optionally, you could take it to a forensic lab and map the DNA....what an a**hole!!! :3:

Hello Eurohazard,

Thank you so much for your quick response. I'm glad to know that the quote I have received is not over blown. They did say that they have to paint the whole area. Now, how can I tell if the metal is over stretched? And yes, it is dent is dent situation.

Anjan- I can so see the jerk's body oil left on the X. If the cloning process is simple task, I would make the jerk's clone and beat'em up whenever I would have a bad day :)

My clinic is in east village in NYC and there are tons of bars. I am assuming that it could have been one of the angry drunken bar goer.

P.S. I have just realized my screen name sounds like Sandy LOL

I finally got it fixed by PDR placed called Dentterminator in Brooklyn. The whole thing took about 40 minutes and the result is absolutely fantastic. It came out perfect without any wrinkle. Just got it car washed and detailed and even the detailer could not tell where the dent was. I'm a happy camper:D

how did you pay for this thing - 500$ ?

I'm a total believer in PDR now after my experience with it...
XandI
Oh no, it only cost me $125 for PDR. The $550 quote was from "conventional" body shop.

Glad you got it fixed!
And what a great price (although it sucks to spend any money at all when it's not your fault).

Thx,
Paul

Hey Texas,

It took awhile to get the dent fixed and I was very hesitant about PDR. I'm glad it is done. I figure life goes around and maybe I'm paying for my teenage years driving my parents station wagon like Indy 500 :D
