I'm getting to the point that I have a hard time checking into the site.
There was a time I would log on 2 to 3 times a day.

Could be spyware doing their fair share in your PC! Mine is okay. |

Don't things usually get quieter in the summer? Vacations, people spending time outside enjoying their MDX's, etc.
There's also not a big "what's new in the MDX in the fall" push because we're hitting the last model year of the current generation. I bet things will hop a lot more when the redesigned MDX approaches. |

The forum does not have the 'flair' it did when the MDX was initially introduced.
But that does not change the fact it goes through cycles, and each new model year brings new blood in the way of happy (for the most part) owners ! :D |

I used to do the same and I believe you are correct that traffic has died down. I've observed the same on several occasions over the last year. Although the political discussions and thong pics became unseamly, they were at least interesting.
But I have to be honest and say that this is the first time I've checked in in a few weeks. Oh wait, that kinda proves the point.

labor, you've asked this question before. A quick check reveals that one the earliest posts came on 11/11/00 and we are now 1725 days later and 281,816 posts later for an average of 163 posts per day.
I know for a fact that we have had 14,031 posts since 3/26/05 for an average of 109 posts per day. I logged out yesterday at 5:00 pm and came in this morning at 8:00 am and found 61 new posts (consistent w/ 100+ posts per day).
I agree with wmquan and DaleB that cycles are normal and that some of the newness has indeed wore off. But to still average over 100 posts per day after almost 5 years is still a very healthy site in my opinion.
Of course I'm sure that not everyone is pleased with the daily content of the site either

This site had been on snooze control for quite awhile now.

Mully!!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss the brashness you brought to the board and all the sports talk.
Who knows, maybe we need another "postergate" incident to liven things up.

Come on guys, you know the real reason for the site to have lost some of its traffic. It happened after we did away with the Hottest Thong thread !!! :2:
Lets bring it back. |

It has slowed down but I still visit daily to see what's new. I still love my MDX and come here to catch up on any scoop, rumors or new toys for it.
When everyone returns from vacation it will pick up. School is starting in the next few weeks. Also when football (pro and college)starts and the new model hits it will get a little busier.
I miss the Hot Thong Thread too! |

I think it ebbs and flows. I've fallen away from the site myself and then returned again.
But - I must admit, like every other "new toy" my enthusiasm for my MDX has declined as the miles (actually, MDX#2) AND the number of MDX's in my neighborhood and on the road have steadily increased.
I've noticed a couple of initially rabid MDX posters have even come back on to admit that they have traded for alternative vehicles. As I'm approaching 55,000 miles this month and the 3rd anniverary of my '03 this November/December, and after 4.5 years in the same vehicle - one without significant changes - I'll probably check out the competition myself.
It happens...

Ditto. My first time here in about 30 days. Just doesn't draw my attention like it used to. A few threads went above and beyond so my time goes else where. |

I think the site may not be as exciting as it use to be is because the MDX isn't new anymore. A lot of the original members had to wait several months to get their MDX or travel out of state to buy it to avoid waiting several months to take delivery. A lot of us paid MSRP for our MDX, now you can go to most dealers and drive off the lot with one.
There are more mid size SUV's available now, i.e Honda Pilot, Volvo XC90, Lexus GX 470 to name a few that were not avilable when the MDX came out in 2001. I would have gotten the Luxus GX 470 if it was available when I ordered my MDX in Nov 2001.
I visit periodically to read what's going on and read about the problems some of the members may be having that are similiar to a problem I may be having. That has helped me out a lot when I visit the Service Department when they tell me they can't find anything wrong and I let them know other MDX owners have had the same problem and what the fix was. |

Is it just me or is the traffic on the site dead?
Due to some changes at work, I've been away for some time, actually have been heavily involved with facilitating major changes at all our locations around the country, which has necessitated a lot of travel. I now have a lot more responsibility with a major restructuring. One of our locations is in Mobile, AL and I left there via rental car to fly out of New Orleans just one week before Katrina came in. Hopefuly I can visit the board more. Those who remember my road trip that was on the home page a few years ago, well I just did a repeat of the trip to Provo this past holiday weekend, without all the snowing this time.
Still lovin' the X. |
