Hi,
New to the MDX world with a new '05 2 days ago.
Got a fully loaded Touring model.
1st thing on the mod list is dumping the Bose speakers.
Has anyone tried the Infinity Reference 6010cs component set-up?
The would replace both the Bose lower door unit as well as the upper tweeter.
I'm surprised I have not seen any mention of this (at least from what I can find so far using the forum search).
I used this type of set-up in my old '03 Mazda Tribute and it worked great.
Any issues with changing out / mod'ing the Bose Tweeters?
I was then planning on using the Infinity Reference 6012i or Infinity Reference 6012iSI depending on mouting depth for the back doors.
How deep are the current Bose units / how much room to play with?
I plan on handling the sub after the doors.
Thanks for any input. |

Thanks for the feedback.
I've seen the thread you have listed and they will help out a great deal.
What's I'm mainly trying to find is if anyone has used this specific Infinity model? It is a 3 piece system with a woofer, tweeter, and crossover box.
I'm looking to replace the front door speaker with the woofer, the Bose tweeter sail with the Infinity tweeter and find somewhere in the door for the X-over.
Just wanted to see it anyone had done it yet or anything similar.
Thanks again. |

Charger: sorry, thought you were referring to speaker replacement in general! There are a couple of folks on this forum who specialize in audio, and they may have something useful to say about that specific model.
Andreseng: thanks for that link - I hadn't searched on this issue since early June and did not see that. I'd focused on the three links above, and have gotten all charged up about replacing the front speakers & sub. |

| FYI, when you replace your Blose, put them on ebay. I sold my 4 door speakers for $70 Buy It Now. That made my new Infinity install a $40 bargain! |

I've been considering this upgrade but I'd be curious to know where you put the crossover.

I just finished this weekend.
I replaced all speakers, including the sub with Infinity (except the rear center speaker).
Using the components for the front was fairly easy,
the hardest part was building a mounting bracket for the tweeter.
I put the x-over in the door in the very front lower section inner panel, just above where the plastis door panel mount goes.
I wrapped the entire thing in electrical tape including all connectors and then mounted the unit with industrial velcro.
My camera was not working so no picts at this time.
Everything sounds SOOOOOO..... much better.
Later in the year, I'll replace the amps and put new speaker wire in, but for now it works good.
If you have any other questions let me know. |

Charger-
Congrats, glad it sounds great. The way you mounted the xovers, any concerns over water getting in there? I assume that's why you wrapped it in electrical tape?
Thanks in advance.

rollsnf,
Another option. I put mine in two plastic sandwich bags and wrapped it with dynamat. It's been going good for two years now. |
