I was thinking about putting in a car computer like the ones talked about at http://mp3car.com. I would need to remove the Display for the trip computer (yes, I'm willing to give up MPG and display of AC controls) However, I'm not willing to give up losing the actual buttons that control the fans. So a couple questions:
1) Is is hard to remove the display?
2) Can it be done while still leaving the buttons for fan and AC on/off where they are right now?
3) Would I have room for one of those 7" touchscreen VGA screens you can get for $300 with the buttons left from above?
Also, if anyone had detailed pics of the trip computer without the trim piece in place ( or links to pics) I'd really appreciate this. |

I was in the same process last year. I even disassembled the trip computer and found it difficult to remove just the screen while keeping the buttons. I also try to find another trip computer on ebay so I can just use the bezel but couldn't find it on ebay so I finally gave up.
Someone did a fantastic job in relocating the trip computer so this might be another option for you:
