I had my car for about 8 months and have 3300 miles. I live in NYC where theres alot of stop and go traffic. Is it time for an oil change???

It won't hurt.

I do mine at 5000 miles but it is a combination of city/highway driving.

First change?? Absolutely.

Not sure what the extreme service interval is for 05s, but a lot of stop and go is cause for more frequent service.

Try not to use jiffy lube- and find a dealer who will not screw you with $100 oil services...

My dealer gives free oil changes and they rec. the first at 3K. However, my opinion is every 5K or so. On a leased vehicle, I personally would not change the oil less than 5K if I am paying.

Again, check owners manual.

In normal driving one year or 7,500 miles, whichever comes first.

Severe conditions, every 3,500 miles.

IMHO, driving in the five boroughs is not severe unless you are a taxi cab! I suspect that your driving is not during the day, with hot temperatures in stop and go with the A/C on.

If it is NYC to LI or Westchester or NJ and back, then 7,500 or one year.

If you lease then I would use normal never severe maintenance schedule.

I would agree with JeffK there. The owners manual states 7500 for normal and 3750 for severe.

If you fiance through Honda, you should have an "Owner Link" which is specific to your car or cars. My Accord and MDX is registered there. It's great. Alot of good information and notices from Honda. I can also set up service appointments through both dealerships (Honda and Acura) through online. I also pay my monthly car payments through the website.

Here is what severe driving condition was on the web

Severe
Follow the "severe" schedule only if you drive in one or more of these conditions most of the time:

Trips of less than 5 miles (less than 10 in freezing weather)
Extremely hot weather (over 90 degrees F)
Extensive idling or stop-and-go driving
Trailer towing, car-top carrier, or mountain driving
Muddy, dusty, or de-iced roads

I believe that Tim at hondacuraworld recommended leaving the initial oil in the vehicle for at least 5000 miles because it comes from the factory with additives in the oil.
