Had to reformat my daughter's laptop. Upon doing so, the screen display I am getting is 640 X 480 with only 16 bit color quality.
When I try to change the resolution it won't let me. I go to the advanced settings but it won't let me change anything.
The result is I get a small screen within a larger display area.
How do I change the resolution to expand into the entire screen?
Thanks. |

| OK you did not provide much information but it sounds like a simple driver issue did you run windows update and install SP2? Did you chek the mfg web site for video card drivers? If any of these answers are no then do it if yes then please provide OS and make model of the laptop |

When I checked the videocard, all it says is VGA. As for the OS it is XP Home Edition running on a Dell 1100. |

did you check Dell's web site for drivers as well as install SP2? XP came out so long ago and laptops all have unusual vidoe cards usually you will need to install drivers
you need to install this file R98211.EXE from Dell's web site

| Concur you need video card drivers. I have a 1100 as well. Just follow the url provided komodor and you should be set, while you are there might as well download the audio drivers, q touch software, touchpad, etc, etc. |
