Just recently upgraded the whole system with:
Clarion Head Unit
RF 6.5" comps in front door
Boston 5.25" coaxial in rear door
JL 8" sub in stock location in fiberglass enclosure
PPI mono amp for sub
PPI 4 channel amp for front + rear door speakers
For front and rear door speakers, I tapped Bose wiring at center console and disconnected Bose amp.
Problem:
Whenever I have all 4 door speakers connected to amp (both pairs of RCAs connected), I get lots of static/buzzing on one pair of speakers. If I only just connect one pair on RCAs for either front or rear, works fine, but must leave one pair RCAs disconnected. However, still static noise when volume is turned down when only one pair RCAs is connected. It doesn't matter if I switch RCAs, still a problem when both pairs RCAs are connected.
Solution:
I bought a new amp thinking it was a bad pair of channels and still same problem. It's not the speakers because if I connect all 4 speakers on just two channels, everything is fine. I am also using high end balanced RCAs also.
Thinking about trying PAC RCA noise filters. Or should I try running new wire to each speaker rather than tapping OEM
speaker wiring.
Anyone with suggestions or solutions, because this is starting to piss me off. Thinking about just using a 2 channel amp to drive fronts and run rears off HU, but then I got this new amp for nothing. GRRRRRRRRRRRR. |

| My aftermarket system included a gutting of everything from the factory including the speaker wire. The installer claimed the factory speaker wire wasn't close to being adequate. I'm not an expert at this but new speaker wire of the proper guage might help. There might be a grounding problem or short somewhere. |

| Sounds like your invested quite a bit money into upgrading the entire audio system. I would recommend running all new speaker wires throughout. I am not audio installer but it sounds like an incomplete install if someone goes through all the trouble with replacing all the component but keeping the stock speaker wires. It may be a lot of work to go back and redo it but it's going to be a much better install. |
