Honda Financing Interest Rates? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Just found this awesome site. That's how I found out about the $1500 factor-to-dealer incentive going on till 9/6/05. I'm in the market for a 2005 MDX Touring and am currently negotiating with a dealer. We are working on a Touring NAV/RES with chrome sidesteps, wide bodyside molding, sunroof visor, and protection package. Dealer keeps insisting he has to charge for install of accesories because he outsources it to third party and has to pay someone. I feel like they're trying to BS to inch out a little more profit. I'm trying to negotiate the deal at cost for the accesories. We're in the ballpark of $41,000 out-the door. I believe we are close and can get the deal done, any comments on this offer?

My questions is for the people that have bought recently and financed with Acura/Honda Financing. I'm looking to put down about $17000 and finance about $24K. What kind of interest rates are people getting for a 60months financing program for someone with excellent credit score above 720? Thanks in advance:cool:

Is that without NAV? The price sounds excessive. If the accessories are going to be the deal breaker, just add them on later yourself. Last I heard, AHFC can give you at least 4.9% for 60, 3.9 for 48 and 2.9 for 36. If you've read some of the recent posts, people are getting below invoice, but that depends on your area.

What is the protection package?

Do you really need the sunroof visor?

I agree with dj-mdx2: That optional equipment is where the dealer will try to make a large profit. Be sure you really need them - as they will add little to nothing to the resale value of your MDX!

The protection package is a misnomer - it should be renamed the profit package. They just spray the interior and sometimes the exterior with some chemical that doesn't really last. The price can go north of $100

The dealer really does have a cost for installation of accessories. If it takes an hour to install sidesteps, they are paying a tech an hour to do it. If you are truly getting the accessories for cost then the installation is not included in that.

The outsourcing of the parts installation to third party is the "Service Dept." at the dealership.

As JL_SS stated, if you are getting the parts "at cost", you still have to pay for the install charge. If the parts price is much higher than Hondacuraworld then just tell them to match it or you get it yourself and have the Service dept install it (the labor will be the same)

I just purchased a MDX, Touring on 8-17-05. The only extras that we got was the body side molding. I think they charged me $280 - $290 for the part and installation. Got an awesome deal on the car, $2300 below invoice! Financing for 60 months was 5.6%. This is the same rate as my credit union. I could have gotten 5% through Costco's auto program.

Just remember, if you get the accessories installed on the vehicle at the time of purchase, they will carry the same warranty as the vehicle. Something to consider.

Good luck!

Also check what "at cost" means. Is this the price the Sales Department is paying for the accessories from the Parts Department or the price the Parts Department pays for it? They can be two different numbers. Good luck!!!

All - Thanks for all the great and informative responses.

dj-mdx - the $41000 includes NAV/RES. Looks like the dealers latest offer (just over $41000 out-the-door) is for the accesories at retail cost (as listed on hondacuraworld) and no charge for installation. The offer I calculated includes the $1500 incentive, accesories at retail price, state sales tax, $249 processing fee, and tags. I think I'll probably be able to work with that offer.

JeffK - the protection package as listed in the brochure includes the all-season mats, trunk tray, and wheel locks. Yes, I agree that there are accesories that we can live with/without, but they will be nice touches to go along with the MDX. I guess its just a matter of personal preference.

So it looks like the Acura/Honda financing with be around 5% for 60 mos and 4% for 48mos. Anyone else able to get a better offer lately with Honda Financing?:29:

Protection package is OK, just make sure you don't take any of the "dealer prep" stuff. Some dealer will throw in the wheel locks for free.

As for financing, my co-worker got 4.74 from HondaFinancing for her Accord. This is a 60 months term.

I have never in my life gotten the dealer prep add-ons such as paint protection, undercoating, upholstery(?) protection. They are not needed and just a way for dealers to make more profit. I just listen and then cordially ask to decline those packages.

I recently purchased an 2005 MDX with NAV/RES for $38,350. After adding a few accessories, the price came to around $39,100 (spoiler, floor mats, etc). The dealer gave 5.09% for 60 months. AHFC probably gave 5% and the dealer tacked on the .09%.

Overall, my wife is very happy with her MDX.

Make sure you check the local credit unions. Just bought my x 3 weeks ago, and the credit union offered 4.65% 48 or 60 month which beat Honda by easily.

Totally agree with Patrick, uh Dbaggette, check with your credit union and it doesn't hurt to be already pre-approved. AHFC only offered me 5.09% for 60 months while I had 4.45% from my credit union as a backup.

We took delivery on 8/18/05 and got 4.74% for 60 months through AHFC.:)
