I've been holding on to this AC PF 1127 for a while. It was once intended for my dad's 86 Accord (may it rest in peace). I think I bought it as a substitute for the Fram 3593A.
The O-rings line up and the AC ring is still in nice shape. The filter itself is a little larger, but it seems as though there would still be plenty of room on the filter housing. Think I should try it or should I return it somewhere/sell it on eBay ?
I read some other threads that suggest the old filter (different part number) was a slightly larger one. |

The only place that size matters (in automobiles that is) is at the business end. If the sealing gasket is NOT THE SAME SIZE do not use it. You could be taking a chance will less sealing surface and cause a leak. The gasket fits to a machined surface and these two must match.

I use to work at a NAPA auto store in high school. I would agree with G. above. |

Although some factory filters have something that aftermarket ones do not. They have a check valve inside to keep oil from draining out that the engine would have to later work to fill back up again on a cold start. Very useful on a filter that is mounted on a high point or especially on one that is mounted facing down (like on the 4.0L Jeep motors). This won't be an issue on an MDX since the filter is low and is mounted facing up anyways. And the AC Delco filter uses a square cut gasket while the OE Honda one is a round o-ring. Although I've seen very little leak problems from AC Delco (many from Fram).
So you're probably alright using it on the MDX, but I don't agree to the generalization that the only part that matters is the sealing surface. |

| Honda is on the left, AC on the right. Both have O-ring sealing surfaces and are about 2 3/16" in diameter on the inside of the O-ring. The AC seems to have some sort of piece of metal that sticks out on the back side of the filter...I forgot to take a picture of it. |

| Wow, it looks like AC doesn't have the square cut seal on that one. But is it just the angle or does the size of the threaded hole look a lot bigger on the Honda one? |
