Hello All,
Recently proud owner of a Sage Brush Green 05 MDX Touring with Nav. Great site and I look forward to contributing in the future! For now, I had a tinting question for folks here.
I am not at total newbie on tinting (I know enough that it is best left to the pros) but the MDX seems to have a green tint on the front windows. When I had a guy install tint (he used Johnsons brand at 35%) it looked very green compared to the factory tint on the back/side windows. Needless to say, this looked kinda crappy. When I went back a few days later, he said he couldnt do anything about it. Now, I didnt expect it to match the factory windows, but the greenish tint bugs me a bit (even though it actually matches my Sage Brush Green paint rather well).
After checking with his partner, the second guy contradicted the first guy and said all we need to do is apply NR (non-reflective) tint. The first guy disagreed but at this point, im willing to try anything (I go back this coming Sat). My first qustion is whether or not this is the problem???
My second question is what film (brand, non-reflective, color/shade?) did you guys use and not get the greenish tint? I read in one thread that someone used SolarGuard 22 with a grey shade but wanted to see what others used.
All I want is a 35% black tint to better match the factory tint in the back (live in SoCal Orange County where cops can be jerks sometimes). Thanks for the help!:D |

How much did you pay for the fronts.
I'm thinking of darkening my windows.. want to do all 4+1 (back) maybe with 20% on all windows. |

How much? Well, I had mine initially done for $50 but now im thinking that I should have paid more for someone that doesnt just slap on the tint.
But if you want your whole car, I figure around $150 or so is decent. Good luck! |

| I have Formula One film (Ultimate Grade?) on the front windows with 50% tinted. (This is the max allow for front windows in Virginia) Depend on the angle (sunshine) to the car, the windows color is pretty much front and back. But I think 35% tinted will match better. |

I had originally front windows tinted by the dealer, but tint on passenger window became loose, so I had it replaced.
The original tint I think used to be 50% and it was much lighter than stock 35%. Now, I have one window tinted at 35% and it matches rears nicely, except the color. Shop owner told me he used charcoal colored film, but it looks too green to me. I did a little research online, and it looks to me the best match in color is bronze.
I plan to order a $30 kit from SnapTint, HP Bronze 35%.
I wonder if anyone had experience with them, or with that color. |

Hi,
I recently tinted my driver and passenger windows at Alta Mere in Norman, OK. I asked them to match the other windows as closely as possible. The tint that the shop used was Pro Shield 15% for $73.00 (with a $10.00 coupon) and was in & out in 20 minutes. The features listed on the shops website are: High Performance Film, Scratch Resistant Coating, UV Rejection 98% and Limited Lifetime Warranty.
I am very happy with the tint, matches well from the outside but of course I can tell a difference looking out from inside but think I can live with it.
Hope this helps someone. |

I've always heard that often times the color of the car "fades" into the tint regardless of the brand. I've only ever used 3M and Llumar and been very happy with both. I like the 3M because it is a petroleum based product rather than metal. It looks "silky."

just got my tint done.
did 15% on the front and 35% on all other windows to darken it up.
Will post pics later.
Even with this (florida sun & parchment interior) the front is still too light.
may have to go back and put limo 5 or 8% on the fronts !!
these windows are large and the front window allows a lot of light. these 2 factors change how the tint looks.
On my g35 w/black interior, 15% all around was dark as hec.
same tint on the MDX is very light. the back ones look good though after installing 35% on top of the factory tint on the windows. BTW, it is not tint but installed into the glass from what I understand so no problem going over it with a layer!! |
