I know there's been quite a bit of discussion on cargo boxes, but I have not seen anyone specificially discuss the Thule 2100 Evolution.
I have a 2002 Touring/Navi MDX and want to install the 2100 (I know about the clamp issues and how to get around that). My question is, has anyone put a 2100 on the MDX? Did it cover the rubber antenna? If so, did that interfere with the reception? If not, how far did they have to put the Thule forward? Was this a problem?
I'm heading up to Martha's Vineyard w/my newborn twins, so I'm going to need all the space that I can. Thanks in advance for any info. |

I don't have the Evolution, but I have a Thule Mountaineer that I use with my '04. They are just about the same length (92"), and yes, it's not really a good fit with the narrow bar spread on the MDX plus the antenna issues. For my Mountaineer, I fortunately did not have to drill any new holes, and installed it so that the cargo door would open completely without making contact with the box - this put the front of the box basically just above the windshield.
I installed it on top of the rubber antenna, and let it bend underneath. It was probably only a 2-3" bend, and I didn't notice any reception issues around town, nor do I think the antenna "suffered." I did get static up in the Rockies west of Denver, but that's pretty much typical with any of my cars. |
