| I believe $1990 is a little high. I thought people were getting this for $1600-1700 but I may be wrong. I am assuming it is a $0 deductible. |

As always, very helpful news for Acura and Honda owners.
I guess one trigger for this are the new powertrain warranties for Acuras and Hondas. E.g. the Acura powertrain warranty now goes to 6 years, 70k miles or whichever comes first. The new powertrain warranty makes the old extended warranty less attractive.
Another trigger is simply Honda/Acura standing behind the product. And that 8 years, 120k miles without major warranty repairs is realistic and thus cost-effective for them to maintain.
E.g. look at Mercedes-Benz's extended warranties. They used to go 8 years, 100k miles, but that was cut to 7 years, 100k miles. Then, with MB spending huge amounts of money for expensive warranty repairs for unreliable MB's, they've jacked up the extended warranty prices to astronomical levels. The LIST price for an M-class 7/100k warranty is a whopping $4,120!!! A C-class 7/100 warranty is an incredible $3,700! Sure, you can get it discounted, but it'll still be terribly expensive relative to Japanese brands (and their warranties are discounted, too).
Nice move by Honda/Acura. I wonder if Toyota/Lexus will do something similar? |

Tim - Thanks as always for the up-to-date info, haven't been to the site in a while(almost 4yrs...) looks great. I see you have 2004 and newer, any idea on the cost for 2002 MDX 7/70 0$D.
Its time to get the warranty, tranny is making a whistling noise and techs can hear it, going back in Thurday... cough, cough... october special cough... |

Well, because of the changes that Acura made to the plans, there are something like 21 permutations per vehicle that have to be programmed into our website to be able to form accurate online orders. It's in process now,and should be done within the next week or so. At present, you can still purchase a warranty on our website if your vehicle is 2004 or newer with less than 6,000 miles on the odometer.
In the interim, you can also call Russ Sparcino, our F&I manager, at (716)826-4200 :) |

Thanks Tim. Talked to Russ and I am not so sure the new warranty is worth it.
I have an 2002 MDX with 41K. The plans are 48K/48M with $100 deductible for $1880. 36/36 is $1780. I was thinking of going with a 7/70 type of plan.
I don't recall what the old prices where but this seems like the price with a $0 deductible in the old extended warranty offered. It was a few months back and I didn't write down what the website quoted so I could be wrong.
Oh well I may simply have to do this, the dealer says my transmission squeak is normal compared to other 2002's and that it isn't the transmission but rather the engine air intake making the noise...
Has anyone used an extended warranty other then AcuraCare they have actually had to make a claim on? |
