| As you know from my other post, I will replace my factory headunit with a kenwood ddx8017. This headunit has 5.1 multichannel DSP and an internal MOS-FET amplifier 50W x 4 peak. Now I'm not planning on installing external amplifiers anywhere in the near future. But I do consider changing out the speakers. So my question is that should I replace the two front speakers with coaxial (Infinity) or get a component set? Will my headunit has enough power to run the component efficiently? Also if I replace the front speakers with Infinity coxial, will I lose the factory tweeters function? |

It's not a good idea to push quality component speaker with just the head unit. Sure Kenwood says it pushes 50 watts per channel, but the distortion is high. Low power/high distortion is just as bad for a speaker as too much power.
What is the reason of going to this head unit if no external amps are used? |

i got the headunit because of a great deal. i also like a lot of the functions it has.
so that rules out the component set up. it is set. i will get some infinity coaxial... thanks for the response |

| Not all component sets are power hungry. Many entry level component x-overs are little more than an inline capacitor, not unlike the ones used by co-ax speakers. All speakers have some type of x-over. Some of the entry line components such as MB Quart Discus series can be run from a head unit, as long as you keep in mind the actual output from the head unit is somewhere in the neighborhood of 12-18 watts RMS and don't expect to get high volume output from it. |

| so do you have any entry line components brand that you would recommend? actually i'm looking at kenwood component set KFC-P605ie. it has a 91db sensitivity, which is actually pretty high and should able to be fine from just regular cd player power output. |
