I heard about the Bic pen "pickability" with the tubular locks a while back and stumbled across this site . It seems legitimate but isn't exactly high buck design. Do they replace the whole thing or just the lock part of it ?

Mine is a Kryptonite 4 I purchased in 1987. Maybe I should let this go. I hate to be the one to bankrupt the company over an 18 year old lock. Then again, it was expensive at the time and was supposedly the best on the market.

nightguy,

My understanding is that Kryptonite will give you a new replacement lock. Other than the Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit and New York locks, I don't have much confidence in the integrity of Kryptonite. When I purchased a new u-lock system for my bike, I went with the Onguard Mini Bulldog and Cable. I still have my Kryptonite RCL III cable lock, but I use that as a supplement to the Onguard Mini Bulldog. All locks are at best, a deterrant to bicycle theft. No matter how much you like your bike, someone else likes it better. Good luck.:29:
