I'm now the proud owner of an 02 MDX. I traded my 01 CL in on it yesterday.
From the CL, I'm removing the OBX Stainless Steel headers, and my AEM V2 CAI. After looking at both of these parts and the engine compartment of the MDX, I believe that the headers will work with a very minor modification, as well as the CAI, though it may need to be cut down a smidge.
Has anyone tried putting the Acura CL / TL Headers on their MDX. I got under it and looked around, and aside from the large crossmember in front of the oilpana, the oilpan, bottom of the motor, and stock exhaust manifold downpipes are near identical, if not completely identical.
The only problem I saw on the header is that the hanger on it, near where it meets up to the cat, is on the wrong side. This is a simple grind and weld - taking only a few minutes.
Just curious if anyone has tried this before I waste any time if it's not do-able.
On my CL - these headers were easily a 25hp gain, and the intake was good for 5-8 or so. - no BS.
I've potentially got 33hp in the garage, just waiting to be bolted on. :) |

I had to cut a 3-4 inch extension of rubber tubing (just used the stock tubing off my S2000 intake) A little creative mounting, cutting the bracket off the intake and drilling it so I could Zip Tie it to the bolt holes in the floor of the engine.
Anyone else got an AEM V2 on their MDX? Sounds really good, just like the CL did. :) |
