Changed to Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic oil today with a Mobil 1 filter.
The engine sounds so much quieter and feels smooth.

Looks like there are a few choices for good filters like WIX, Napa Gold, Puralator, K&N. I have two questions -

Is there any such thing as a filter specific for synthetic oil or they are all the same ?

And is the high cost of the Mobil 1 filter really justified ? The others mentioned above (and feel free to throw in your suggestions) get repeated recommendations and they cost about 3 times less than the mobil. Is it just that mobil is recovering its reasearch cost or there is really that much more to that filter ?

IMHO the Purolator Premium Plus hits the sweet spot with flow, filtration, build quality and price.

The AMSOil is the best though if spending 3-4 times more for little gain is not an issue for you.

You have to make that decision based on the information provided.

Although I have said in my post what in my opinion is a great filter, and I am by no means an automobile expert.
