Has anyone had the coolers installed by the dealer without the hitch? I can do the wiring harness and hitch installation but not so sure about installing the coolers.

Also any have a Honda dealer install them instead of Acura?

Thanks,

Steve...

I let the dealer install the trans and power steering coolers when I took delivery of the car. I didn't want the hitch installed, just the coolers for summer/mountain driving. In order to install the coolers yourself, the bumper facia has to come off. I didn't negotiate a separate price, as it was all part of the purchase price. Installation was perfect!

As long as the dealer is getting paid they will do whatever job that you request. Never heard on one turning down money,.

I didn't think the cooler installation was bad at all. I would have done photos but it was hotter than hell that day.

PS cooler is a piece of cake. There was more fluid in the old one than I thought so there is an oil spot near my trash can where it sat horizontally. Tranny was fine except trying to get my big hands to the clamps for the tranny cooler. Then, you have to break the tabs on the clamps to make them lock. Kind of cool actually. I did have my neighbor help at the end, and he is a mechanic. I think he just wanted to hang out. He helped me get the bumper lined up and the clips in.

You'll need a quart of tranny fluid and a pint of ps fluid. You won't use much of either. They were cheaper at my Honda dealer. You'll also want a narrow-tipped turkey baster for filling the tranny fluid through the dipstick tube. You could actually do a fluid change while you have the lines off. And save the clips from the rear trim piece. I needed a couple. :)

Looking at the instructions on Tim's site convinced me I could do this.

The coolers are not hard to do your self. I wouldn't spend the money to have the dealer do it. The instructions are very well done, and the only extra would be a small amount of fluid.
I did mine the next day after I took delivery of R-MDX. When I got it all done, I cleaned up and stopped into the dealer and asked them to top off the fluids. They were never the wiser. It took a little PS fluid and the AT was OK.

Add me to the list of DIY for coolers. There are instructions http://www.hondacuraworld.com/Merch...structions.html on Tim website www.hondacuraworld.com . Dl and take a look at them and judge if you want to tackle it.
