| I am having a friend help me install a 15 inch flip-down LCD. My problem is that the sun/moon roof cover does not open when I mount the LCD. There doesn't seem to be enough clearance for the sun roof cover to slide properly- We looked at moving the brackets on the slide cover...but very complicated- Then someone mentioned mounting a piece of plywood with liquid nails to the thin metal sheet in the headliner....can anyone help? You need to have some way to screw into the metal ribs that run across the vehicle above the headliner. With a 15" monitor, if you do not screw it to the braces, if not at first then eventually the headliner will sag. The secret is in using the perfect length of screw so that it will hold into the ribs and yet not too long where it will protrude and stop the motion of the cover. If you do find it necessary to use a board for correct mounting position, make sure the board (I like to use 1/4" hardboard) is securely fastened to the vehicle's roof ribs, not just the headliner.
Hope this helps. |

| thank you...I realized this solution only after I got a run in the material covering of the sunroof slider. I wish I had used shorter screws....but eventually I mounted into the roof ribs..and you're right -this was trial by fire and now have to replace the slider.:( |

Glad to hear you got it in.
Trust me, you are not the first to do this to the cover. I have had to replace them for this same reason (GM SUV covers can be very picky and the ribs are shallow). I have also unknowingly cut myself and had to get the blood removed from the slider.:3: |
