Hi,
My first post, please be gentle.
2 weeks ago I bought my first acura MDX 2005...wow. Nice car. Anyway, I want to accessories it a bit so I bought the LUND Bugshield deflector from driverfx. Well, this thing states that its a no-drill application..but it requires drilling. There is no way on earth I am going to drill into my new SUV. I am really ticked off about this, but my question is:
1. Does anyone have a bug-deflector and what manufacturer (that does not require drilling)..?
2. Has anyone installed the LUND one and whether it impacts the rust warranty etc from acura?
Thanks! |

I have the FormFit front air deflector - bought from Hondacuraworld.com and it does not require any drilling. In fact most of my MDX accessories are from Hondacuraworld (Tim). IMHO, return the Lund and contact Tim for all your Honda/Acura parts & accessories, especially the Formfit deflector - you wont be disappointed.
Did I mention that Formfit is made in Canada, maybe you can get it locally for a decent price . . . Good luck. |

| Why not think about a Clear Bra. No holes to drill and almost invisible |

Thanks Everyone! I am going to order the form-fit one. I wonder if there are stores in Canada that sell them though. Anyone has their web-site (if they have one)?
Thanks again! |

I bought mine through Hondacuraworld.com.
I'll be interested to see how it goes with you. I've had mine on for 4 months now, and have had 3 bad rock chips causing me to replace the windshield more than once. I was wondering if the Form Fit air deflector sends the rocks right into the windshield, or if I've just had bad luck. Not sure which, since I've heard from others with this deflector that had similar issues (though the vast majority of people havn't complained about this).
I still get a lot of bugs even with the Form Fit deflector, so I think you will still get bugs once you put it on. It might be a little better than without it, but I'm not sure about that. I think I'll take mine off again and see if I notice any difference. |

| Not that I've had a rock damage the windshield yet (crossing my fingers), but I have noticed that in driving rain, I seem to get more splash in the lower part of the windshield with the deflector installed than without. I hope this doesn't happen with more solid objects. The FormFit definitely has the cool factor, though. |

The bug deflector does just that, it deflects bugs and stones from your hood. Unfortunately they get deflected into the windshield. It saves the hood at the expense of the windshield. Windshield replacement is usually free (most have $0 deductible replacement) while repainting the hood due to stone chips is not covered under insurance and will cost you out of pocket. |

Thanks for the post. I do get free windshields, but the hassle factor of getting replacements and the chances of installers not doing a perfect job one of the times makes me more inclined to get some touch up paint and take my chances on the hood damage. I think I'll remove the deflector and see what happens for a month or two. |

Depends on the amount of highway driving you do. We purchased a 2004 Sienna that traveled 70 miles roundtrip daily. It was supposed to be delivered with the bug deflector installed but they couldn't get one in time and we had to wait a week for it to arrive and be installed. In that week we wound up with 2 huge gouges in the area that the bug deflector would have covered that required repainting to cover. |
