Just visited the carsdirect.com to check the price for RL. It's only $41,129!!!:8:
RL just came out last year. I don't see any reason that the price will drop down that much. It's almost $8,600 off the MSRP. Not sure why??? |

| I've only seen one on the road so far. Actually it was parked next to a movie rental store not too far from here. |

| 2006 will offer a "Tech Package" with adaptive cruise control. Maybe they've caught wind of this and are trying to blow out the 2005s perhaps. And for 2007? Oooo. A really nice toy becomes available. Can't say what though. Let's just say that only one other car in the world has it. |

| Econ 101 - supply vs demand, they're simply not selling. AHMC has to offer massive marketing incentives to lower the price to a point where people are willing to buy. Looks like the Acura peeps dropped the ball on this one, it was bound to happen, can't keep cranking out wildly successful selling cars without an occassional 'oops'. IMNSHO, Acura should donate the RL to 501(c)s that can either raffle or auction them off for their charities or service orgs. I know I would buy a $25 (tax deductible) raffle ticket for a chance to win a $50k RL. :4: :4: :4: |

That toy better be really good. Though by 2007, others will probably have it or Acura will "forget" to put it in, like other toys we've heard of. Probably too little too late, for the number of RLs I've seen on the road.
I did think that traffic stuff is cool, but that sure didn't help sell cars. |

There are several threads on the RL.
I considered one quite seriously until I actually saw it in person many months ago.
I agree with the posters who said it looked like an Accord on Steroids.
Consumer Reports was totally unimpressed by the RL.
There is virtually no rear seat room. The trunk seems smaller than the TL.
And the TL is so much better looking.
Performance and handling between the TL and RL is a tossup - while the RL has more power, the extra weight and the AWD rob the power, making the TL actually faster and better skid pad marks.
Of course I assume in snow the RL is better.
Finally the price puts it in the same category with the Audi A6, BMW 530i and Mercedes E350 for a few dollars more.
Being a high end luxury car, a majority of which are leased as opposed to being bought, the Audi and BMW lease out for less than the RL, while the E350 for about $40 a month more.
I am not going to debate which car is better or more reliable. This will probably go to the RL. But when you get to $50,000 reliability usually takes a back seat to exclusivity and prestige. Here the Acura brand is a distant third to Lexus and Infiniti and not on the same perceived level as Audi, BMW or Mercedes.
I think that Acura really missed the boat on the RL. It's styling is generic, its performance middle of the road and in size it is closer to a BMW 3, Audi 4 or C class Mercedes.
Is it any wonder they are not selling??????????

| I too considered the RL very seriously; I have been somewhat active over at www.acurazine.com :1: I am thinking of trading the FX for a sedan. I tried hard to like the RL; but I just don't think it is worth even $41K (by the way there are some who are getting it for $39,998). I am currently negotiating a trade of my FX35 for an M35. By the way www.infiniti-driver.com is a brand new dedicated M site that is showing promise  |

| I've been shopping around for something to replace my 2003 TLs and this will certainly add an option to my potential vehicle list. If I can get it for $40K, I will have to put some serious consideration into it. |

I think the RL is way to bland. Like someone has said, it's just like an accord on steroid. I test drive the Infiniti M45 a few months back and I have to say that it's an awesome sedan for the price. |

Hey Jeff, you do have some good points in your thread, but if you're looking for "exclusivity," the RL is easily the best way to go. I see thousands of generic MB's and BMW's every day but I see other RLs about as often as I see Bugatti's and Lambo's. :)
I like my RL quite a bit. I'm 6'3" and have been on 4 hour trips in the back seat (my better half driving + some passengers) a number of times. I am quite comfortable in the back of the RL just as long as the driver moves up about an inch (not too much). It's no Avalon or limo back there, but it is comfortable and roomy enough for a tall guy like me.
That said, I do seem to be losing my shirt on depreciation. Being first on my block with an RL certainly wasn't a great financial move, but first on the block with my hybrid Lexus is working out great. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
If the new M35/M45 was out when I shopped the RL, I may have gone that way.
Slightly off topic, I just gave back the keys to a rental Avalon XLS this afternoon (biz trip) and was very impressed... Comfy, huge, 27.7 mpg at 80 mph NY to Boston and back, and this baby just flies. Kudos to Toyota on some excellent work. |

| I wonder if it's the marketing. I don't recall seeing ads anywhere but in my running magazine. It just doesn't stand out as a flagship vehicle like say, Corvette even though the RL is a sweet ride. |
