It's been a while since I posted here.
Just wanna share my new DVD headrest and my "modified" Navigation DVD video.
JayPogi
I had it done a few weeks ago...I would say I'm fairly happy with it.
JayPogi
DVD was place below the driver's seat. It me took me a while to get used to it, changing DVD's and all...while driving.:D :D :D
JayPogi
And also I felt they overcharged me since they said "they're the only ones who unofficially hook up Navigation conversions to DVD"

DVD works fine...... if it's original. I had some problems playing burned DVD..... it stops when I start driving.:(
JayPogi
Well there you go. :o :o :o

Nice!:4:

Are those the stock headrests that you added monitors to? What brand of monitor?

I'm looking for a new X, but thinking about passing on the factory RES for an aftermarket unit.

Thanks. They ordered the headrest (with monitor), it not the stock. The monitors where Vizual Logic.

Hey there JayPogi

Looks great. How are you handling the audio?
too fast
The other member is interested in how the audio is bing routed, i am as well. Inaddition, what type of dvd player are you using (stock?) and where is it located. Can you explain how it is being routed to the nav screen in the front and if the nav works while the dvd is playing and how you change what is displayed on the front control screen.

Thanks

The DVD player's brand was Exonic (never heard of it before). Sorry I can't help you in the installation process. I didn't wanna work hard :D and was kinda in a hurry for it to be installed coz the family had to go to a long trip. I was charged an arm and a leg for it.....:(

The DVD player is located at the bottom of my seat (driver's). I had wanted them to put it in the glove compartment but says it's not possible coz the wires might be moving too much opening and closing. (And some other reason I forgot). There is a switch to change what is displayed (NAV or DVD).

The audio works great (got no problem on this one). The DVD audio output is on one of the (unused)FM stations. The kids can use the Wireless headphones if my wife and I have to listen to our CDs or radio stations.

It looks like they did a great job, I also want to do the same, but was wondering what would be the cost? roughly?

Where did you install the switch? is it instant when you switch back and forth? Any problems with NAV since you installed the DVD conversion?

Switch is under the drivers dashboard....no problem with NAV whatsoever.

Nope, not really. Not unless you sit in the middle and you're adult height.
laborlitigator
3rd rows definitely cannot see but i prefer the individual headrests over the drop down.
TLC's MDX
laborlitigator, why do you perfer the headrest monitors?

i'm leaning more toward them too but strickly because i like the look better.

cleaner lines..

So far, there's only a couple of disadvantages I've observed about having headrest monitors: depending on how you set your seat, your viewers may have a tough time seeing the LCD due to glare; and the monitors are more attractive to potential thieves (something I've hopefully deterred by using headrest covers).
Lauren
that is pretty sweet ... i like it better in the head rests than on the ceiling
