Allright baseball fans, who do you think deserves the MVP award in the AL: Ortiz or A Rod?

I reserve judgement until after this weekend's series.
Obviously, the MVP should be the one who carries his team into post season, and there's a chance that one of the teams (Yanks or Sox) will not make the playoffs . . .

They are both great players and its very close but I voted for Ortiz considering how many times he has come through in the absolute "clutch" for the Red Sox all season...

I heard this morning that 20 of his 47 homers have either tied the score or put the Sox in the lead.

Only real argument against him being MVP is the fact that he does not play in the field.

Arod is over-rated. He is capable of and should put up better numbers sandwiched b/w Jeter, Sheff & Matsui. Pappi had a nice year, but he's hitting in front of Manny. Nobody wants to put Ortiz on base to get to Manny. Ramirez is truly the AL MVP. His numbers are similar to Pappi's and there's noone behind him to protect him. Reverse the order (Manny #3/Ortiz #4) and Manny would have a monster year . . .

Ya, and only Manny would go behind the leftfield scoreboard during a game to relieve himself!

Isn't that proper etiquette in B-town ?
I've heard McHale & Auerbach did that on several occasions . . . :D :D :D

Besides, I thought we were talking baseball here, this ain't no freakin' beauty pageant - love him or hate him, all Manny does is drive in runs . . .

I think Mariano Rivera is the real MVP. Yanks would have lost at least 10 more games without him.

From a Yankees perspective, he's not even the most important player on the team (Rivera) and not the most clutch hitter (Sheffield).

I'd have to say if you took Arod out of the lineup, the Yanks would still be there. Take out Big Papi, Sox aren't even a wild card team.

He's earned it. . .

I find it funny for the numbers Manny puts up, the Sox were so willing to get rid of him last year and this year. . . why?

I wish he gets the Cy Young but I think Colon is gonna get it. :1:
