Excellent price. Maniks have poor step attachment and now sell for over 500!

Nobody makes any worth $500...and
the Acura are the best in quality IMO, especially at the hondacuraworld price. Almost 100 off list.

But again, if cost is a major concern, for 200 bucks those are probably hard to beat. I would look them over real good especially at the step material and how it's attached. And hopefully there are no mounting bracket alignments problems, etc. Not trying to scare you off, but you have to be very aware when buying unknown brand goods.

My Maniks recently got damaged on one side thanks to a careless truck driver, also left his tread-print on the left passenger's rear door.
The body shop has ordered the Acura steps from Tim, and the insurance company is paying out 100 more.

The only reason I even had Maniks is Acura did not have the step options when I purchased my MDX. I guess I got a 2nd chance, the hard way!

Dale is tossing out the Maniks !?!?!
For those who don't know, Daleb was my inspiration for getting the SS Maniks on my ol' '02. I've since moved on to greener pastures. But I remember using his posts on a thread as my 1st DIY project. Back in the day, Maniks were the only option for chrome or SS steps, as Acura only had the black. Some members bought the OEM black steps and had a 3rd party powdercoat them to get the chrome look, which was considerably more expensive & time consuming. At the time, Maniks were a good option. My how times have changed . . .

I can't believe how much they went up in price!
Well, I'm only tossing out one, the other is 'trashed'! :D

Thanks for the information. I guess I can ask the seller about fitting. His feedbacks seem to be good and he mostly sells auto accessories.

I did buy the OEM side steps from another ebay seller two month ago. The package came in damaged. UPS picked up the damaged package and returned to the seller. But I have not got refund or new set yet. I will think about this option once I sort out the mess.

They could be just fine, Jane. I just received 3 Kenmore undersink filters for $33 on ebay. These sell in Sears for around $21 each! With shipping the 3 filters would have been $42.
The reason I even shopped for them is because they are back-ordered.

Then the guy gives me a refund for $9 because it appeared one of the filters had a crack on the plastic end.
They all arrived in 3 days, factory sealed, and yes one did have a small crack on the end that was only cosmetic.

I seldom use ebay, but when I do check out the seller completely. Even then it's no gaurantee.

Jane - Did you ever buy the side steps from ebay? I've seen a few listings on ebay for 3rd party nerf bars designed to fit the MDX with prices in the $150 - 200 range. They claim to be made of all the same high quality materials as the OEM varieties, but for 50% or more less, it's a real attractive offer.

I'm looking to add a pair of these steps to my '04, and still debating over the $400+ ones from hondaacuraworld versus the 3rd party variety such as this:

Anyone ever bought these off of ebay (non OEM or Maniks).

thanks,
matt

Hi Matt,

I did not. I finally got the OEM sidesteps I purchased from ebay after 2 months. I got mine for $442 shipped. These 3rd party ones were not available at the time I got mine. I would probably buy these cheaper ones to try out. You do not need the side steps to last forever. BTW, my OEM ones now look horrible after a few days of rain. I need to get some stuff to make it more resistant to water spots.

Good luck,

Jane

Matt -

I am considering the same pair. Did you take the plunge? If so, how do the bars rate, IYO?

Nope - I ended going with the OEM steps in satin chrome - no risk. I'm very happy with what I got.

I got the package in the mail today. It arrived well packed wrapped in plastic.

The Steps look great and packing is well done.

Installation Instructions are straight foward. It took me about 45 minutes to install. I'll post pictures of the installed stapes tomorrow as its dark now on the East Cost.

I did take pictures of the packaging for those that are interested.

I'd give these steps a good mark as the look good on the car, they seem to be made of high quality and the price is GREAT

BEAUTIFUL! I took the plunge and purchased a set. According to the shipping information, they should arrive on Monday. The price is right, and they look great!
