I posted my "problem" in the Problems folder.

Let me run the same issue by the electronics gurus.
A semi-portable DVD player came with a car adapter rated at 12V/6.5Amps.
Following the steps in the DVD manual - the car is on, the DVD unit IS NOT ATTACHED, I plug the power adapter into the outlet - poof... blown fuse (both front and rear power outlets - 15Amps in the front, 20Amps in the rear).
Toshiba sent me another adapter - same story.
Can it be a "polarized" plug??? (never heard of it)
Nor did I ever hear of the power adapter consuming power without the unit attached.
Any suggestions?
Toshiba is willing to send me another adapter. Look for eBay listing on surplus power adapters soon :( |

I'd guess that your power adapter has a defective plug.
If you're going to continue to play around with the thing, you might try it out using your neighbor's car. |

| I wouldn't try a neighbor's car either. No point trying the same thing and hoping for a different result... it'll just lead to more blown fuses and a pissed neighbor. Suggest vip9 pack everything and take it back to the shop... and come back with a different adapter (or a different player+adapter)... |
