It looks like Honda is ready to unveil a pet friendly vehicle for it's domestic market. Not really sure what platform, could be a modified Element ? See the attached Link

Those have to be the worse looking seats I have ever seen in a passenger vehicle. They look like lawn chairs. Maybe that interior is just a mockup and those aren't the final seats.

Personally, I think the MDX (and the accessories available for it) is already very pet friendly. I have two Siberian Huskies and that was one of my criteria when I was shopping for the car. The MDX offered the most pet friendly features/accessories/rear space compared to all the other mid-size SUVs I looked at in 2004.

The cargo liner is a great accesory if you have pets that will be traveling in the rear area, not only does it prevent fur (and odors that the oils on fur can transfer) from getting stuck in the carpet fibers, but, thanks to it's almost complete coverage, it also saves that whole area from a lot of dirty paws and claw marks. The extra flap that can fold out over the bumper has saved my paint from many little paws eager to jump in for a car ride. The size of the rear cargo area has enough space to accomodate both collapsible crates. The separation net also comes in handy in keeping their crates from moving around too much. However if the dogs are not confined in their crates the net isn't very good at keeping them back there thanks to gaps on either side.

All in all, it is nice to know that Honda is furthering its considerations to the pet-friendly demographic and already has many advantages over its competitors in that segment.
