I have a 01 X and its the BLOSE system (BOSE).
1st off what a awful subwoofer. My tweeters in my TL puts out more clean bass then the Blose sub in my X ;) .
My question is can I just replace the SUBwoofer w/o doing any mods to my head unit or internal amps? can anyone confirm its ok? Also what SUB to get that you guys recommend if it can be used with the stock BLOSE subwoofer amp ? Thanks |

You can replace the sub, however, most have found that unless you switch to some type of nicely powered sub, you'll only replace junk with junk.
From all I've read, the least expensive and most effective upgrade is replacing the speakers with Infinity's, then going and upgrading the sub with something with decent power.
If you do a search there are lot's and lots of threads on how disappointing Bose is and the best ways to upgrade. |

Well I figure I just start one of my own since the others are long threads.
Say if I do replace "all" of my factory BLOSE speakers,, would I need some kind of special modulator to hook the speakers up to my OEM Blose head unit?
I figure I ask b/c on my 99 TL it has the blose and to make any of the speakers to work you needed some kind of modulator. I never took my TL door panels off, but i was told there were 3 speaker wires and not 2 which is standard to hook up speakers. Something about the 3 wire for the Blose due to the ohms.
So whats the word?
Thanks again all |

No modulator required. Just some adapters. I would recommend re-amping/re-wiring everything and bypassing the Bose amps altogether. |
