What does your local dealer charge for Acura keyless entry remotes?

My Acura dealer wants $129 a piece plus $35 for programming for each of my cars (02 MDX, 01 TL).
I'm curious to see what other dealerships are charging for new remotes and programming.

I'm done with ebay because the listings show new remotes, and 3 out of 3 times I've won - I end up with junk that doesn't work and won't program. First one was superglued together and cracked. Can't check the battery if you can't even open it. Second one was completely corroded inside from water and didn't work. The 3rd one only 1 button worked and it looked like someone tried to superglue the circuit board pieces back together. Each one was advertised as new, or like new and they obviously weren't anywhere close to that. The Keyles Ride site is run by one of those same lying ebay sellers, so thats off the list too.

What does your local dealership charge? I bet there's some that want even more than what mine is charging.

Check in with Tim at hondacuraworld. I believe he said in another thread he can do both key cutting and programming for 25$, if I'm not mistaken. Dunno about the keyfobs.

And :welcome:

I think my local dealer wanted $80 per remote. I have order three remotes off of ebay and have been very satisfied.

My dealer charged me $29 for a new key. I called my sales guy and he gave me 2 remotes and programmed them for me. I lost my keys recently and called my sales guy and he helped me out. No charge for the remotes.

He's a smart guy. The extra service may get him a referral or two, and he knows that I'll probably buy another Acura from him when my lease is up on my TL.

Hey all you sales people out there, extra service means extra commission dollars!

If you don't like to buy on e-bay, checkout KeylessRide.com, I got a good condition used one with programming instruction for $40, programming in very very easy.

I have a spare I can sell you. It's in good shape with a few light scratches from normal use.

Send me an email at briancho80@yahoo.com, and we can go from there. I'm looking to get $25 + shipping.

The FCC is E4EG8D0444H-A for memory seat 1.

The programming instructions are pretty simple. Took me about ten minutes to figure it out, and another two minutes to program both remotes.

Ahh - the KR site is run by one of the ebay scammers, I mentioned that in my first post in this thread.

I found another site that sells the keyless entry remotes - www.ThePartsYouNeed.com

The KR site wants about $95 a piece with shipping for the 02 MDX remote.

They're less than 1/3 that price on ThePartsYouNeed site with the instructions included. I ordered 1 this morning.

I'll keep you guys posted. If it works good, I'm going to order one for my TL as well.

sorry to ask ... I am just wondering when you guys say KEYLESS.. do you mean just like an ALARM control? or actually like the LEXUS or G35 .. where you only need the key to be in your pocket .. and it will open???

keyless - the remote with the LOCK, UNLOCK, PANIC type buttons on it that gets attached to your keychain.

Oops...forgot to update:

I got my remote from ThePartsYouNeed.com in the mail on the 17th. 5 days isn't bad especially when one was a Sunday.

Programming was easy, took about 10 seconds. I can't believe a dealership would charge 1/2 hour of labor for a 10 second job. Thats a good way to lose customers.

Anyhow, the remote works great and when I went to put in an order for remote for the TL I noticed I got free shipping, so I bought a 2nd remote for the MDX and a pair for the TL. FINALLY I will have remotes that work and that I can use.

ThePartsYouNeed.com rocks!

Miata - Does the programming on the new remote you got work with the memory seat adjustments?

Ive never even used the memory features on mine. I suppose I should figure that out since my wife and I slide the seat back and forth.

Ahh, been so busy lately I forgot to update this...

I got the 2nd set of remotes about 2 weeks ago.

I confused myself a little when trying to program the 2nd remote to the MDX because I didn't finish reading. I was programming the new one, but de-programming the first remote. After like 3 tries, I decided to read the whole sheet and found that I had to program them both together.

The TL programming was pretty much the same. Now I have 2 remotes for each car which makes things a lot easier. Hopefully these won't end up in the washing machine like the last ones!
