Hi all - Long time, no post,
I have a 2003 w/ OEM Goodyear Integrity tires.
Do the newer models use the same tire as the base tire?
Were there changes to the Integrity model throughout its use on MDX (2001- current)?
Where's the best place to get a good deal? Tire rack?
Is there a cheap steel wheel (in the MDX OEM size) to buy for a FSS with one of my old tires?
Thanks,
Bill |

The 04 and 05 shipped with Michelin CTs, and there have been both positive and negative comments on those. The Goodyear Fortera seems to have good reviews, and they come in the X size, if you want to stay stock.
Tirerack's a good place to price it, and see if your local tire shop can match the price.
For a FSS, people sell them on ebay all the time (got mine there) and here on this board too. |

Define 'cheap'. I may be able to help you if you're looking for a base MDX alloy wheel ('05 I think). Let me know . . . |

The base or "premium" X's still come with the Goodyear Integrity tires....no change.
The Goodyear Fortera Silent Armor is a much better tire than the Integrity or the Michelin CT......MUCH better! |

| I have a 2004 MDX. I drove the Integrity tires less than 2000 miles and then traded them in at a local Goodyear dealer for a set of Fortera's. Not a cheap solution to marginal tires, but one that I was happy I made. |

BadNews,
How much credit did they give you for each Integrity?
TIA,

| I would go with the Michelin CT's if your looking for a smooth ride with at least 60,000 miles range. The Goodyears's are a more agressive sporty tire. If you'd like to feel the road better and have a little stiffer more sporty ride with less mileage go with the Goodyear Fortera. Both excellent tires. I choose to stick with the Michelins because all the mileage I've been doing, I was able to get 65,000 out of my original tires. I like the "Lincoln Towncar" type drive I get with the Michelin CT's. I was almost going to go for the sportier Fortera's but changed my mind last minute for the smoother ride. Check Costco or Tire rack for the tires. Check speed rating carefully because you may think you getting a great price to find out that the tire is one step down on the speed rating. Good Luck. |

Did you try the Fortera before making theses statements?
I have now had both the CTs and the Forteras on 2 different SUVs and the Fortera is a much better riding, handling tire with a smoother ride than the CTs. The Forteras also helped with stopping and cornering.
Long story short, the Fortera is a much better tire overall and looks much better on an SUV than the CT. |

YES, I actually did try these tires on my vehicle and did like them, but, I felt in my opinion, that they had a stiffer ride than the Michelin. You could feel the road better with the Goodyear which made for a little stiffer ride. The looks of the Goodyear are much more aggressive look for the real off-roader. Which I am Not. I prefer and agree with the engineers at Acura that the Michelins are the better choice. IN MY OPINION. Again they are both excellent tires. Believe me the engineers at Acura could of put any tire they wanted on this vehicle and they choose to put the Michelin CT's, there must of been a reason. You obviously like what the engineers choices were on the other parts, so lets take some advice from the auto-maker themselves. Michelins are choice tires on a number of high end luxury vehicles. I don't see Goodyear on nearly as many luxury vehicles. |

Wow,
How many sets of tires have you had on your X? You started with the CTs then the Forteras and now are back to CTs?
You must drive A LOT!
The Fortera Silent Armor gives a better ride than the CT hands down. I have had both tires on 2 different SUVs for over 30,000 miles each tire and there is no comparison.
BTW...If we are going to "take advice" from the "auto maker".....the base X owners would buy the Goodyear Integrity. |

| The Goodyear Fortera’s sound like a good tire and probably will be my next. I have about 34k on my CT’s and they don’t look like they would be any good in the snow this winter so I got a set of Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snows on rims from tire rack. Went with the stock size as I have a set of chains that size if ever needed. I'll put them on around Thanksgiving. |

They said they would give me $50 for each tire. Of course he did then charged me full price for the Forteras. The trade in probably didn't add up to much. I didn't care. I just couldn't drive those tires another day. I paid $500.00 and got free rotation, balancing at rotation and free flat repair, all of which I have already used. |

Now I know you're CRAZY for sure. The Integrity is TERRIBLE. The Michelins are much better than those, there is no comparison. Now to explain how I was able to try the Frotera's, my firiend happens to own a tire wholesaler and let me try the Frotera's for a day and then I exchanged back to the Michelin's. Again I did say the fortera's are an excellent tire it just depends on you personal opinion and how you like your vehicle to drive. Acura only put the Goodyears on the lower models that should in and of itself say something to you. |

Actually the Integrity is a GREAT riding tire. Probably better than all of the rest mentioned here. It should never have been put on an SUV...that's Acura's fault due to the fact that theylack the handling characteristics of a good SUV tire.
You tried the Forteras for a DAY?? You didn't get much time to see how great they really are. Goodyear gives a 30 day no fault trial on these tires they are so confident in them. |

| People, please do your own DD. Forteras are heavier than the OEM Cross Terrains, so there is a trade-off for switching. According to TireRack, Cross Terrains weigh 32lbs in the OEM size (235 65 17s) while a similar sized Fortera is 34lbs. For comparison, the Integrity weighs 30lbs, and the Michelin MXV4+ & Yokohama G052 also weigh in at 32lbs. Now 2lbs per wheel may not seem like alot to most folks, but why add more unsprung weight to your suspension when you have other options that weigh the same as OEM . . . |

| Sounds like your trying to put 8 lbs of sh*t in a 1 lbs bag. :D |

| The Integrity were great on my previous RX300. I got 68,000 miles out of them and they were smooth........ |

I believe everyone should come to their own conclusions. Just make sure you do the research because as you all know your MDX is transporting the most important cargo in the world "YOUR FAMILY"
That was one of the reasons I decided to agree with Acura engineers, my personal experience & my research. Remember the tires we are talking about are all excellent with slight differences. |
