For anyone interested, there is a truck in Sweden that just broke into the 8's. This truck is being shipped to the US to compete with some other big guns at the SyTy nationals in Kansas City in early September. Can't wait! :D

The trap speed is in KMPH, so it is around 155. Still flying in a near full weight street legal V6 truck. BTW, this truck does 0-60 in under 2.2 seconds, It's a rocketship out of the hole. |

Wow. Wonder what mods are on that Sy.
04mdx4sq - How hard is it to maintain a 91 Sy? Been toying with the idea of getting one as a toy but if it requires too much time investment, I may not jump in. |

I don't want to steer you away from the trucks, but they are 15 year old GM products, so finding one with low miles and few mods is your best bet. If you are looking to keep it fairly stock, there are some that have been daily driven for 200,XXX + miles with routine maintenence. They do like to eat plugs and synthetic oil is a must. If you are planning on getting one to heavily modify, then you will likely become a member of the jackstand racing club. The cool thing about these trucks is that they have a very loyal following and getting advice or help is usually just a phone call away. I would love to see you get one, they are fun little stoplight warriors. Nothing like seeing the face of a stoplight drag victim after a 10lb boost launch that puts 3 cars on them before they know it. After all, it's just a V6.....:22:
Plenty of info available at www.syty.net |

Thanks for the info. If I do get one, I'll let you know. I have come across that website before, and some of the how-to links are inactive.
I showed my wife pics and specs of the Sy, and she didn't look too happy. She said she liked the Ridgeline coz it was "cute". I said trucks aren't meant to be cute. (She hates Hummers with a vengeance). And most women will never understand the concept of a sleeper turbo at stoplights. Sigh... |

Mine is reffered to as "that peice of junk that takes up her parking spot".....I don't understand her 40 story shoe rack and she doesn't get my toys, such is life. Have you thought about a Typhoon, they are much more practical. ;)
I have some pics of a couple of Sys from a BBQ we had at my house a couple of weeks ago. I need that motivation to work on mine once in a while. |

| Cool pics. I did almost bid on a Ty on ebay that was going for $5K but the 115K mileage put me off. Still keeping an eye on em on ebay. |

I would avoid the high mile trucks for the most part and Ebay for that matter, there have been many scams and poorly maintained nightmare trucks on there. If you would like, let me know what you are looking for (Sy or Ty and color preference) and what you are looking to spend and I will let you know if I find a good one for you. The guys on the forums follow these trucks and I can usually get a very thorough history on the trucks from them.
Too bad I didn't know a little sooner you were looking, one of the board members just sold a stock 70K mi. garnet red / grey Ty for around $8000.... Typhoon market is definately a buyers market right now. Sy values, on the other hand, are up. |
