I am getting a quote of:
$38,740
no accessories
but i get somewhat of a discount. i asked him what the regular cost on the accessories vs what i get it for, sounds like about a 10% discount off that.

this is for 2005
silver/ebony or
sagebrush/ebony

I requested quotes for navi + DVD.

How is this quote? I've seen people post quotes for $36,780 - $38,279.. so my deal doesnt seem to be the LOWEST.. but compared to invoice and MSRP, fairly decent.

I also heard that from Thursday on, I can get preferred financing of 3.99% up to 24 -60 mos.

Can anyone provide insight? Thank you in advance..

The dealer invoice on this car is $40225 minus the 1500 dealer incentive (which is scheduled to expire at month end), his cost is $38725, which is almost exactly the same as the price you are getting. The only profit he will make on you is the dealer holdback which is around 2-3% for most car makers, though some car makers have no dealer holdback(acura does have a holdback). Seems like a great deal to me. The 10% discount on accessories may not be a great deal--you can do much better, especially if you buy online and do yourself. Goodluck!

Dear Kateel:

Sorry, I must disagree. This is not a good price for the following reasons:

This is a 2005. The moment you drive out the door, this is not only a used car but a ONE YEAR OLD USED CAR!

There have been numerous posts over the past 60 days, before the '06 had arrived, where people were buying '05 at dealer cost, less the $1500 rebate.

It is now 60 days later. The correct price should be dealer cost or less, less the $1500 rebate.

BTW. I suspect that if there are any '05 left at the end of the month, the $1500 rebate will be extended until they are all sold.

If I were to come in and do a counter offer - what should I offer? What would be a 'great deal' and what would be considered most likely and still I should walk away feeling that I got a fair deal? $37,500?

THanks again everyone!

For your reference, we bought our steel blue MDX Touring w/ NAV+RES for $37,700 about 2 months ago. When we purchased the car, there were lots of black and silver MDXs on all the lots we visited. My guess is that you should be able to get one for close to or below our price. However, we live in the LA metro area where competition drives prices down.

Use our price as a reference and get yourself a great deal. Good luck!

Concord and Pleasanton are both Hendrick owned. Consider Sunnyvale(Penske) or Stevens Creek(Autowest). IME, the larger ownership groups have more leeway to work for the bottom line price. Not a hard and fast rule, but something I've noticed.

Of course, only deal with the Fleet or Internet manager.

That is a good price ! Which dealer did you buy from, and was it thru the internet, fleet or sales manager ???

Last week, I bought a red 2005 with navi and dvd for $38680 +50 doc fees in the midwest. That was exactly $1500 under invoice, so the dealers only profit is the holdback which is $1319 for this car. At least in this part of the country this seemed to be a good price, the dealer called it a "low deal." I am satisfied that I couldn't have done better in this area. One dealer was giving me 38880 and let me walk away when I asked for 38680. The orther factor for me was that there are only so many red (the best color :) ) 2005 with dvd and navi left so I wanted to get it before they ran out. In any event, prices may be better in california-I hope you get an even better deal!:)

We purchased through Keyes Acura in Van Nuys. I would have purchased it from South Bay Acura in Torrance but they didn't have this color in stock.

To get this price, I went on Edmunds.com and autobytel.com and got quotes from the "internet" departments of multiple dealers. I then called Keyes, asked if they had the color and whether or not they would sell at this price, and went down and bought it from one of their floor salespeople. It ended up being a pretty easy transaction.

This being said, the next day our battery went dead and Keyes wouldn't help us. Would only offer a keychain for our trouble. Bottom line - get the best deal you can from Keyes and stay away after.

well, i pulled the trigger. i got the car for $38,500 + $1000 for accessories including:

chrome side step
cargo cover
side moldings

I also was approved for 5.99% financing there. not sure if i got an awesome deal, but the dealer seemed to keep saying that it was the best deal that i could get.

Congrats! Not a bad price on the X. Not so sure about the accessories, but to each his own.

Just curious how many years you took out on the loan and I don't mean to pry about your credit history but 5.99% seems a bit much. You may have done better with a credit union. Of course, the dealer will say anything to drive profit up - that's a given. You just have to come to the table well-informed, especially with APR info.

Thanks! Well, I think I could've done a bit better with accessories if I did buy them online.. but I wanted some installed at least so I wouldnt have to worry about those. I will buy all weather mats online and some other accesories.

My credit score was only 646 on experian which is very very low.. I think its because I have some high balances. I dont have anything negative (no lates, etc.) but just higher balances and lots of inquiries. I got 66 months @ 5.99%. My credit union quoted me 6.25% with excellent credit.. I think rates are higher these days? I was not able to qualify for Acura's promotion of 3.99% they are having.. but I plan on paying the car off within 12-18 months or so at most.

We got our 2005 MDX this past July at Pleasanton. This was after I haggled at Concord for a while and they wouldn't meet my price($400 difference). I then called Pleasanton and quickly confirmed a price that was $100 LESS than what I was willing to pay at Concord. I ended up purchasing a prepaid maintenance plan at Pleasanton but will do the maintenance at Concord since it's the same owner.
