Wax suggestions? Tire polish, too? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I've been reading several posts about "show car polishes," and the like...but I'm not the best at devoting a ton of time to washing and detailing my MDX (I love a clean and polished car...I just don't have the gene that likes cleaning and polishing.) Plus, I live in Hawaii...and the whole "wash you car out of sun and in cool temperatures" idea is a bit hard to follow (shade is easy...cool temperatures? Not so much)

So...does anyone have a recommendation for a good...but easy-to-find-easy-to-use...kind of wax? Turtle? Maguire's?

Also...what's you favorite "make your tires shine" product?

Thanks in advance!

For the average car owner, Meguiar's has very good quality products that are readily available at most stores, easy to use, and moderately priced. Their waxes and tire shines should suit your needs.

3M, Mothers, and Eagle One are other reputable brand names.

Waxing tips:
1) Wax your car every 2 months.
2) Wax only in the shade and when the paint is cool to the touch.
3) Wax painted surfaces only. Do not wax trim, metal or plastic.
4) Understand the difference between a wax and a polish and be sure to buy the appropriate product for your needs. Wax is a protective layer that coats on top of your paint. True polish is non-protective and is designed with fine abrasives to minimize the appearance of paint defects.
5) Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the back of the bottle.
6) Use a clean microfiber cloth to remove wax residue.
7) Avoid automatic car washes and be sure the soaps that you use to wash your car are pH balanced. Using poor quality or harsh soaps will cause your wax to wear away much faster, leaving your paint vulnerable.

Tire Shine tips:
1) Clean your tires every few months to remove accumulated tire shine/brake dust/road grime build-up. Tire shine will adhere better to clean rubber and the gloss will be deeper. Any general cleaner (safe for use on rubber) combined with a stiff bristled brush or steel wool should work. Do not just spray on and rinse off, do a bit of scrubbing for best results.
2) Try to avoid getting tire shine on wheels or the body. Staining may occur on unprotected surfaces. This is one reason I prefer to use an applicator as opposed to a direct spray. Definitely do not use an aerosol type spray if it is even slightly windy out, it will mist all over the car.
3) After applying, allow the tire shine to sit for at least 30 minutes before driving the vehicle to allow it to soak in.
4) Before driving a car whose tires have been recently shined, go around and quickly wipe excess shine off of each tire with an old rag. This combined with step 3 should virtually eliminate annoying sling-off.
