I just got a new Sony PSP today. I downloaded the new system update 2.50

Besides playing games, movies and music, is there anything else this thing can do? Any cool hacks or tips?

OOOOOOhhhh too bad you updated it, Basically the new update prevents you from playing emulated games. I think you may be able to downgrade to 1.50. I can try to find some info and report back.

Yep, like Warzau said, you pretty much limited your hacking potential to zero with the upgrade to 2.5. Version 1.5 is the one you want to play emulated games, and supposedly once you upgrade you can't downgrade.

Visit www.hackmypsp.com for more info.

That's ok... I probably wouldn't try and hack it anyways. Just wanted to see what I could do with it.

Are there any accessories you guys recommend? I got the value pack so it came with a case and remote. Are there any other cases that are nice? I'm looking for a nice slim case with maybe an extra pouch or slot to hold a few games, headphones, screen cloth, etc. Nothing too bulky.

How is the battery life? I've read some reviews that say nonstop gaming the battery will last 5-6 hours. That's much better than I thought. Any first hand experience? I'm flying to the Philippines next week and it's a 13 hour flight so I'm looking at buying another OEM battery. Are there any other options? I've seen those add on power packs that give you additional power. Anyone tried those?

I pre-ordered this http://www.krusell.se/artnews/20050905/20050905.html from Executive PDA. Im still waiting on it. It was supposed to be released Nov 1st. BTw they make great cell phone cases.

I got this case:

For $15 it's a great deal. Padded slot for the PSP, middle compartment holds 8 UMDs (plus I put the ear buds/remote in there as well), and the top compartment holds the AC adaptor. Plus there is a small zipper pocket in the back that I put the Memory Sticks and a screen cloth in. Very compact and well protected and lets you carry just about everything you need. It's got a belt loop and a finger loop too for carrying.

I recommend getting a larger card if you want to download movies or music on to it. Also, get some sort of stand if you plan to watch movies on the psp. It's a pain in the arse holding that thing upright for 2hrs :D

I bought this case because it doubles as a stand for a recent trip. It makes a great stand but, I found it to be too bulky and not very useful in carrying other accessories.
