Tire Pressure Indicator and all tires indicate - Click HERE for Original Thread

Have a 2005 MDX with about 5500 miles on it. Today the temp dropped in Minnesota and I went out to the X after work (Temp at 22F) and noticed the Tire pressure indicator on with all 4 tires indicating. Sorry but all 4 tires are not low (although I have not checked the pressure but it is unlikely.) Drove it for a while, shut down and started again, and the indicator is on then 3 tires came on and then the 4th. The TPMS indicator is NOT on.

Anyone had this problem? I'll check pressure sometime tonight.

Check the pressure, this will happen as the temp drops.

Remember your high school physics, PVT. As was noted the pressure goes down as the the temperature goes down. The tires probably were low on pressure when you started.

ok, ok,ok

Cold tire's PSI were 26, 26.5, 26.5, 27

Pumped to 32 PSI. Lights are gone. Red face. :1pat:

So are the sensor's that sensitive? Does anyone know what the cutoff is? I suppose I could look in the shop manual. Do know my physics, now I need to look up air temp and pressure chart. Ah maybe not...

Thanks,

It's not that they are that sensitive, rather, you hit the upper threshold with the drop in pressure. I believe 26 is the magic number, as I have seen 27 and not had a TPMS alert.

All you need to know about air pressure in relation to ambient temperature is this simple rule--for every 10 degrees of air temp change, you will see about 1 PSI of air pressure change. So if you picked up your MDX in the summer and temps were in the 90s and now they are in the 40s, that's 50 degrees of drop which means -5 PSI. So what started out as 32 PSI is now 27 PSI.

26 is indeed the magic number when it lights up. The service manual also says it has to be back above 29 for that TPMS light to go off.

Great. I mentioned the word "light" again. :)

Also should say that thing probably isn't mil-spec... may have a parts or manufacturing tolerance/range of +- whatever %.

I also had my 4 indicators on today due to the temperature drop (I think).
I dropped my car to a dealer on the way home from work, the car drove much better after pumping my tires to factory setting.

My TPMS indicator is coming on again.... after I already had it in for the fix. I don't think they really did anything last time around but clear the codes.

What was the fix again? Some module replacement? I thought I remember mention of a service bulletin that the Acura shops were supposed to get, but I can't find the details at the moment. Does anybody know the specific bulletin number I need to mention so that my shop can fix this once and for all?

Thanks

(my tires are fine...I'm talking about a malfunctioning TPMS indicator here on my 2005)
