I know that there have been a number of transmission problems for some of the earlier models.
Any reports on the 2004 model? Very infrequently, I sense a slight slip. |

I have the same question about my 2005. It may be that I'm still getting used to it, having bought it only a month ago, but during a recent road trip that involved long highway spans mixed with some fairly steep mountain roads, I noticed some noticeable downshifts and occasionally some hesitant upshifts at moderate speeds on flat smooth pavement. The upshift hesitation is similar to something I've seen in other vehicles while maintaining a speed near a normal shift point (tranny shifts up and down frequently), but the noticeable downshift feels like the tranny is "hanging up" until the vehicle speed is lower than the normal downshift point and the tranny drops into lower gear suddenly. Has anybody else seen this in later model X's like my 2005? |

| I haven't noticed any tranny issues of consequence posted on the board for 03-05. |

| Replaced transmission on 2004 @ 40000 miles. It would clunk and jerk when decelerating or engine braking. A couple of weeks after they replaced it, it rev'ed up real high and then the D5 light started blinking. Then they replaced the "neutral safety switch" and everything has worked fine since then (about 5000 miles). |

| None this far with my '04 (18K). There is another thread (at least 1) on this board related to shifting while on a steep decents, but it was more an observation than an actual problem. |
