Supersize & Keep the Meat :hmmm: - Click HERE for Original Thread

I’ve read several posts that refer to plus sizing. I'm currently running stock 17 inch with 65 worth of meat. I know if I add a 18 inch wheel, the meat of the tire is supposed to be 1/2 size down to a 60, 19inch with 55, 20inch with 50, 21inch with 45 and 22inch with 40 and so on. I know your ride, gas; performance is sacrificed for the purpose of looks, with some tires more than others. I enjoy the comfort of my ride; witch is very smooth and gas mileage at 17-18 city. I would like to add the X FACTOR and beef up my ride to SUPERSIZE rims and tires, but giving up my 40K RIDE is what stops me, I really enjoy it. An idea I came up with is to add some nice rims to the stock tires or maybe something wider than stock? Or I had another idea I used on my civic back in the day. Instead of + sizing the tire, I keep the same tire size and just + sized the rim. Example: 245x65x18 instead of going down 1/2 to 60, what about doing a 245x60x19 or 245x55x20. I didn’t notice any dereference with my civic but that was a 4 banger. I don’t want to give up to much on the meat, still keep the better part of the ride and have some looks? Can anyone shed any light on this idea, is this possible, am I just dreaming or just wishful thinking!
I’d appreciate all interested responses especially from those savvy veteran posters.

Here is a tire size calculator to help determine a combo that will keep your speedo correct.

Ideally you shouldn't change the height of your tires much. This tire size calculator recommends staying within 3% of the stock tire height. Any more than that and your ABS could fail. Obviously it would throw out the speedometer and odometer too.
