| One of my favorite toys ever was a '78 or '79 Hess tanker. There weren't as many toys with working lights back then so it was a new feature to me. I remember it being really well-built. Sure wish I knew where it is now. |

I remember that one! I think mine is still in my parent's attic. I was 11 when I got it. It also made "truck" sounds when you pushed a button on it. My dad had bought a '78 Old Delta 88 from a dealer Christmas week and the salesman gave my brother and me each one of the tankers. We used to play Smokey and the Bandit with the trucks and our hotwheels Trans Ams.
Thanks for the memories! |

Hmmm, must be a regional east coast refiner/retailer. Never heard of or seen them on the west coast. Can these trucks be ordered over the net or by mail ??? |

Amerada Hess is east coast regional with over 1,350 retail marketing facilities serving customers in 14 states from Massachusetts to Florida.
The trucks are sold at their retail outlets. I see some on Ebay. |

Their outlets are the stations and the one near me has police directing traffic when the trucks are in stock for the holidays. They get a FULL 18-Wheeler cab filled with the toys and sell them right from the back to people who pull up in their cars. It's madness. |

My in laws collect those for the kids, they have a blast going over and playing with them whenever they're there.....
I have a Hess 1996 firetruck here in my desk that I picked up at a garage sale for a quarter that's missing the rubber tires. One of these days I'll find the appropriate hose size and make some new ones :) |
