So, I went over to a small dealership near Reading, PA tonight and bought an '05 with 15,000 miles, Nav/Res/XM - the works. So, I'll be pestering you guys with questions for the next few months. I'll start right now: Looking back on your ownership, what are some of the things you with you'd known when you bought your X, e.g. "I wish I knew I didn't have to burn high octane" or "They really aren't meant to go off road". You get the idea.

I really like the vehicle. Now I just need to figure out how to work all the bells and whistles. Any comments on using K&N filters or using synthetic oils (Mobile 1, Red Line, or Amsoil)?

Thanks in advance,

cbrose

Congrats and welcome to the family!!!!:7: Try using the Search feature to get the answers to your questions as most of these have been discussed in great detail before. If you can't find what you're looking for then ask your specific question.

Congratulations on your purchase. I also recently purchased an 05 two months ago.

My only complaints are:

1. The Gas Slosh (Do a search)- this is the thumping and sloshing sound in the gas tank mostly heard when the tank is full.

2. Poor headlight output- it seemed like the foglights were more visible than the headlight itself. Upgraded to HIDs though.

Go jump in the ongoing groupbuy from visionbulbs. Visit the groupbuy threads. They have 10 buyers already.

I do not understand this "gas tank slosh," maybe because I do not have it in my vehicle.

My problem is that it is reported to be mostly when the tank is full. The physics of the situation are that if the tank is almost full there is less room for slosh. Normally the point at which the most slosh could be heard is about 1/2 full. I would assume that Acura, like all other car companies baffles their tanks.

Could it be that what is being called "slosh" is really a tank that is not firmly held in its supports? This would go along with it being loudest when the tank is full.

I wish that was the case as it would be an easy fix and probably cause a recall due to safety issues. Consider yourself lucky that you don't have it or just can't hear it.....Acura has acknowledged that it has to do with the design of the tank and improper baffles inside the tank. It's a shame that after all these years they haven't addressed it yet!

THey go off road just fine. But stand back and look at your new ride, all shiny and bright- Does that answer your question about trashing it in the rocks?

Learn to speak Voice Recognition. It's like learning French with a CD in the player. You'll amaze yourself and dazzle your friends. (Just make sure you show off using a really easy command that she can understand. )

NOW YOU ARE STARTING TO LEARN HOW TO TALK hammermdx :))

If acura can't learn how to make the tank right, what can Acura be capable of? . Have their cars with same price like Lexus except deliver a quality of a Honda ? :))

Yeah, I can't want to play with the voice rec. I built speaker independent speech recognition systems for almost ten years so I'm interested in testing how well it works.

Then you''ll be interested to know that it was done by IBM from an souped up version of their ViaVoice.

Yeah, I did some research and came across the fact that they used Via Voice, which, I think, is usually considered a speaker-dependent system that requires training (think computer dictation systems). They must have written grammars specifically geared toward the navigation domain. Pretty darn cool. Ironically, I was lost yesterday and I actually asked someone for directions and only thought about it later that I could have simply asked the X...
