Fuel mileage survey - Click HERE for Original Thread

The Department of Energy has established a website that allows individuals to gather and share their fuel mileage. I appear to be the only 2005 MDX owner that is sharing my data.

If you're interested in participating (no cost, don't have to provide any personal information), go to www.fueleconomy.gov.

I would be really interested to see what kind of mileage that other drivers are seeing, more than just anecdotal comments that we see on these forums.

There are so many variables for each owner (climate, gas quality/octane, driving habits, loaded weight, tire pressures, altitude, mulitple drivers, etc. ) I don't see such a poll conducted is that meaningful on the forum or the EPA website. Unless you believe with enough people everything just 'averages out'.

That's the idea. Obviously, no two individuals are going to see the same performance, but the idea of a survey is to get an idea of what the range of performance is across many different conditions. I already know what kind of performance I am getting, but I'm only one data point. In order to get a statistically significant sampling, a whole bunch of people need to participate. Thus, my original post.

By the way, I am in no way affiliated with the DOE -- just an end-user.

I would be surprised to see anything much different than what you might read here.
12+ is extremely bad..and I can't recall any complaints on this forum going below 13-15....most saying they get 15-17 in the city.
On the open road everything from 18 to 25+.
I know I'm doing this from memory, but
I just don't think a survey outside the forum will make much difference.
The main reason is you will likely have the same people participate that would join an enthusiasts forum. Especially if someone gives them a link to the DOE site. ;)

You are so very correct. Any resulting information can only be misleading at best and just plain wrong at worst. Any government employee that would take and use information of this sort should be fired immediately as they know nothing about what they are trying to accomplsih.
