Finally I am experiencing my first problem with the 05 MDX. The driver window auto up/down feature is not working. I can press the button all the way down and pull it all the way up, but th button won't click and so as soon as I take my finger off the switch the window will stop moving, so much for auto up / auto down.... now it's just manual. I don't understand the nature of the problem but I suspect the button mechanism (spring, not electronics) is defective.

Will take the car in to get it checked out, other than this no other problems thus far...

Did you by chance disconnect the battery? The Auto up/down function will disable and need to be enabled again.....I believe:confused:

I just had to reset mine a couple of weeks ago. Only thing I can think of is several months ago I disconnected the battery during my electric connection for the hitch. Maybe I didn't use the auto window for that long.

I think all you have to do is hold the switch all the way down, hold for a few seconds, and then hold all the way up. Whatever I did, it's in the manual.

Following your suggestions I "re-enabled" this auto up/down window feature. Thanks!!

I didn't disconnect the battery but had lost battery power recently. I found that the RES eats up a lot of juice, and apparently I don't drive the car enough to charge up the battery. I commute to work via. public transportation and only drive the X on weekends.

Never heard of the auto up and down being anything other than a switch position. How do you ENABLE it.

If it works then it is "enabled".

When you unhook the battery or the battery almost dies then you have to reset the auto function.

This is explained in the manual and goes something like this.

Push and hold the button down all the way and 2 more seconds after that. Then all the way up and hold for 2 more seconds. This "enables" the auto function.

Yep, this is true with many models of Acuras. If the battery is disconnected or you lose power, you will lose not only your seat memory but also your auto window up/down. Like others have posted on here, if it has not been programmed, you just push the button all the way down (through the auto detent) and hold it until the window is all the way open, then pull the button all the way up (through the auto detent) and hold it until the window is closed. Likewise, with the seat memory (if you lose them), I believe you have to first turn on the mirror heater button, and then move the seat to any position. Then you can shut off the mirror heater, move everything to where you want it and save it to memory.

Again, these "memory loss" conditions only occur with complete or near-complete power loss.

Thanks for the explanation. I would never in this lifetime have thought to look in the owners manual for a way to fix an auto window problem. Guess that this is just one more function that has gone from a hardware implementation to a computer implementation.
