04/05/06 MDX Owners...do you set dash illumination to maximum brightness at night?

Never unless it rains, which in California requires us to turn headlight on when using vipers.

Definitely not at night. As noted above it is sometimes needed during rainy days when the lights have to be on.

I set it very low, because I'm worried that the lighting will burn out, because of the juice it requires, it might not last as long? My 94 prelude had the same dash; I used to keep it on bright all the time, so cool, till one day it turned off. #@*#, scared the heck out of me, because I know it cost plenty to replace!! After it turned back on again I lowered it down, never had that problem again? Mabel I'm just paranoid for nothing, I'm going to keep it low to preserve it, as an added precaution. It can't hurt anything anyway.:hmmm:

Compared to the Volvo, the bright screen during the day is tremendous....But...
At night we have to reduce a notch or two to keep the glare down!

I actually find that it doesn't go dark enough. When driving at night I like to barely be able to see the gauges, especially when on rural highways.
After all, who needs to see the speed once you set the cruise control. It's definitely easier to see through a window when there is no light being reflected back at you.

Jim,
You stated that you have a "Slate Grey" MDX...which color is that? We just bought a Desert Metallic one and would have loved to have seen a Slate Grey One.
Do you have a picture?

More than likely you have already seen one! In the US, the same colour is called Sagebrush Pearl. |

Too bright affects night vision and is distracting. I try to keep scanning between the mirrors and out the front with ocasional scan of the dash. Anything unusual will catch my attention.
