Just happened yesterday. When I backup, the screen was totally bright white. Can't see anything. But it works OK duing the night. I suspect the circuit that should automatically adjust the brightness is bad.
Anyone has this problem?
Since the car is still under warranty, I will bring it into the dealer and keep you guys posted. |

The car will be in the dealer tomorrow. They said I will get a loaner car. I will post the results.
I think it's a good time to have the brake clunk TSB done.
BTW, the X has just over 35k miles, first time back to dealer. |

| Please keep us updated. I have the same year with about 40k mileage. Just looking out for possible problem areas, like a few 01's are having issues with the auto dimming rear view mirror. |

It's in the dealer now. I will see what they say about the problem.
I am not a big fan of dealer service department. Always try to squeese money out of your pocket, but not always care about your car. Just like taking care of kids, no one else will take care of your kids like yourself. And sometimes the car condition just got worse, problem after problem ever since they touched it. Sometimes I really doubt they did this on purpose.
Well, that's why I always do the maintenance and repair myself. And for the past 10 years, the rule I follow is "why fix it if it's not bad", except for the maintenance, especially fluids. The 2 Accords I own are almost 200K miles and still strong. I am pretty confident on how to take care my cars. And that's why this is the first time my X is back to the dealer, for warranty work and also for something that's probably too complicated for me :2:.
Ok, back to the dealer part. When I mentioned about the brake clunk noise, the "consultant" at the dealer said he never heard about this before. Although I know the X is famous about this and there is a TSB for it (04-009), I didn't mention anything, just would like to see what kind of story I will hear. Though I did mention that one of my friend's X has the exactly same problem and a dealer fixed it. Just want to give them a hint don't tell me funcky stories.
I did got a loaner car, brand new 2006 TSX, only 76 miles on it.
PS. This is the same dealer that, when I called just for an estimate on oil change when my car had only 5000 miles on it, told me my X is "DUE" "brake cleaning" for $120, and other "inspections", etc.
Let's see what will happen. Hope it's a fun story to tell.:2: |

| A little while back I was listening to a car talk show on public radio (Car talk I think was the name) and a woman called in stating that an independent shop had told her that she needed to replace the halogen fluid in her headlights for 80 bucks. She called in wondering how often the halogen fluid needed to be changed because she could not find that info in the manual. I have not had to take my MDX for any work but my wifes VW has had some work done. The dealer we take it to to get work done has been a straight shooter so far. It is a bit of a drive but definitely well worth the trip. I hope I get just as lucky with an Acura dealer if work needs to be done. |

Just got the car back this morning.
Not too bad, and no fun story. They are pretty straight forward with me. Here is the list of what's been done (all under warranty).
1. Rearview camera and control unit replaced.
2. TSB 05-002. Front pads replaced and rotor turned. I tried to get info on this one but they just said it's related to the clicking noise.
3. TSB 05-012, some kind of brake bracket installed on both sides. Not sure what it is. Any idea what is this TSB?
4. Finally TSB 04-009, rear brake shims replaced.
Hmm, I am happy with the experience. They are pretty honest with me and didn't push for any un-necessary maintenance items. No "brake cleaning" mentioned :2: . |

Ha ha ha, this is a good one and reminds me of a similar experience of mine.
I was in a Honda dealer for a regular maintenance about 10 years ago. I was not very handy with my cars at that time but I know some stuff (and have common sense). The "consultant" was so agressive and rude. She, yes it's a she, pushed hard for every possible opportunity to replace parts on my car.
A light bulb burnt and she told me the whole light assembly is bad "because the wiring is built into the assembly so the whole thing has to be replaced". I have to point out that "there is no wire in the plastic shell and the only wire there goes right to the bulb" to calm her down and drop her tense desire for a new one.
She even showed me, in her hand, some kind of big and odd oil seal in the engine and told me I have to replace it or the engine oil will leak out and the car will be trashed. But I know that seal doesn't belong to my car, and there basically isn't any seal in the engine you can just take out and show others.
She then insisted that my timing belt will break any minute and I will be in big trouble if I don't replace it, despite I told her couple times that it's been replaced not long ago..... It's a long and fun story and at the middle of her BS, I don't want to waste time and told her just do exactly what I specified, nothing more, to shut her up.
Since then, I refrained to go to dealers and shops and began some hands-on learning to take care of my own cars. So far, me and my cars are happy and I enjoy taking care of them and save big bucks for my vacations.:D |
