I was reading through the user’s manual for my 2002 Acura MDX and noticed something on page “i”. It’s called a “California Proposition 65 Warning”, and goes on to say “This product contains or emits chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.” Does this mean our kids, when they’re grown, married, and having children of their own (or trying to) are going to have to face reproductive trials and tribulations ... all because mom and dad just *had* to have that Acura MDX rather than hang on to the minivan for a few more years???
I’m getting that sinking feeling .... :(

| Isn't Prop 65 more like a blanket warning for any chemical that poses risk? By their defiinition, there's a whole list of stuff we come into contact with daily. See link |

WARNING!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!!
It is dangerous to be born. Everything that you do after that leads to death. The sky is falling. Rome is burning.
On the Serious side. That is a blanket statement that your good California polititians have caused to be placed in the book. In reality it does not mean that the MDX does or does not produce emissions that are more or less harmful than any other vehicle.
Read the labels on just about anything and you will find voluminous statements about what that product may or may not produce or cause. It is all about cover your ass (CYA).

Yeah like the McDonalds coffee cups that warn that "contents may be hot". Isn't that the idea? |

On our other vehicle, they stuck that Prop 65 sticker on the inside windshield at the top left corner. It's a small one and it's transparent other than the words, ie. pretty non-intrusive. So I peeled it off after we bought it. Then one day the wife sent the car in for service and LOL that Bimmer dealer put another sticker back in its place. Dunno what's up with them. Must be some kinda CA state requirement or they must have too many stickers/labels hanging around.
Also did the same with the MDX. They have this big ass Prop 65 sticker at the lower-rear of the driver side window when we bought it. This one is on a white label (non-transparent) and kinda blocks the view... other than being huge and ugly. So I peeled it off too. Then sent the vehicle in for service but the Acura dealer didn't stick another one back in. They probably got the idea we don't want that label there... |

Yes, your MDX contains "GASOLINE" and a "CATALYTIC CONVERTOR", "ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS" and "BRAKE FLUID". These all contain very dangerous substances and should not be used around kids. :14:
I would take your MDX back to the dealer and trade it in for a bicycle. |

Unfortunately, a bicycle would still have metal alloys and rubber and plastic components that are unfit for human consumption. Best to walk, really. And you'd have to stroll in the buff, too, since most modern clothing contains these synthetic fibers that may eventually be absorbed through your skin and cause genetic alterations in your descendants fourteen generations down the line. God knows how costly attorney's fees will be by then. But then again, lawyers might be extinct as a species at that point, having consumed most honest people's personal finances. (Apologies to laborlitigator). :D |

Actually, way too many politicians. This is mandated by statute. Blame the legislature. |
