| I just received my new 2.3 Navi update on Friday and have yet to get past the Navi code! I am the original owner of the car and have never had a problem with the Navi system before (except for inaccurate info). I installed the disk, the system said it was updating then it asked for the code and I entered the code - INCORRECT CODE!! I read EVERY post on this site I could find involving Navi and still no answer. I found the code number on the side of my glove box and it matched the card so I am running out of answers. The MDX is the wife's daily driver and she is getting a little restless. The only aftermarket electronic install in the car is a Blitzsafe connector and a Dephi satellite radio, which the wife is now blaming on the problem but that has been in her car for 2 years and never a Navi problem before now. HELP, please!!! |

Did you try calling Tech Support at the Acura navigation site?
What exactly is the error message that appears is it asking for a code or a PIN?
How about leaving it blank and just pressing enter? |

Uh oh. You didn't mention if you had the Navi replaced at any time, so I will assume it is the original Navi. I think your only chance is the dealer- explain the problem, and see if they can look up the Navi code in your records.
If it's the same number as on your wallet card, throw yourself at their feet and beg for mercy. THen demand that they figure it out, since they sold you the MDX, and they gave you the wrong Navi code. |

I tried leaving the code blank - nothing!
We called the original dealer - they said that the code in their records is the same that we have on our Anti-theft card and on the glove box sticker!
We have never had the unit replaced and the dealer said that it was the original unit.
The message that appears is simply "INCORRECT CODE".
I have gone as far as to replace the battery (dying anyway) and let car sit 12 hours hoping to reset system then re-enter code - once again NOTHING!
The original dealer is now 1200 miles away and my warranty is all used up! |

| Just a shot in the dark. Eject the updated disc, let it sit for a few hours and then try reinstalling the original disc. Don't know if this will work, but just thought I would put in my 2 cents. |

Sounds crazy, but clean the disk. When I first got my MDX the nav would not 'nav' (yes, why didn't the dealer check it out?)
I called a fellow member of the forum, he told me to clean it just for kicks.
And it worked, and continues after 3 1/2 years.
You probably already did it..but just in case. |

Sorry X27,- but don't do this. You can't "backdate" an updated disc. If you try, you get the dreaded "See Dealer". Disconnecting the battery won't clear this either- (I know from experience grrrrrrrr). |

| Thanks for all the suggestions - unfortunately none of the ideas have worked. Looks like I will have to break down and pay the dealer (YUCK)! |

You will never believe what happened with this brilliant piece of electronic engineering!
I had all but given up and was ready to tell the wife to take it in during her lunch break today when I tried one more thing. Yesterday, we tried the reset and switch the DVD trick and just left the old disk in the drive. I woke up early and put the new disk in and tried the Navi code on more time - STILL NOTHING!
Then something told me to try the entering 0000 as the code and when I did the screen went blank and then the Acura GPS Welcome screen came up and the new disk was in business! Do you believe that? My wife was floored - I still don't believe or understand it but it worked and that's all that I care about at this point!
Thanks for all the responses on the topic and maybe this will help someone else some day!! |

Wanna know something 0000 is usually a default code for alot of electronics, it either blank or 0000. Glad it worked out for you.
At least now we can add this to FAQ in re to Navi. |

| I encountered this same problem with my '02 MDX. I had purchased and installed an update to the GPS over a year ago and a queertron made the system think it had experienced a power failure. The dealer was totally perplexed as to why my code didn't work. They even crossreferenced my unit's serial number with the Honda/Acura defense computers. Bottom line: apparently once you install an updated nav dvd the anti-theft security code reverts to 0000. Talk about "Joshua" this is a pretty serious back door. Too bad Acura doesn't seem to know this. |

I just went through the same thing with my 02. I was having a brain-fart when it asked for the code and I put in my PIN a few times. The owner's manual said if you put in the incorrect code three times, you have to turn the unit on for one hour, then retry. The only problem is the Nav shuts down after 5 min of inactivity unless you are driving. I was getting quite frustrated.
Then I got on the "trusty" MDX.ORG and... tada... 0000 worked first time without reseting or leaving on for one hour!
Thanks for the help!
I was a little disappointed, though. The Alpine guy said the software would update to look like an 06. It looks to me as if it only updated the database. Any comments on that?
Thanks,
John |

| No, the software will not update the look of the GUI. |
