I had my local Acura dealer add the Music Link to my 05 MDX. It took several hours so the cost was over $400 in parts, kit & labor. They noted they were advised by Acura that it would work on the 05. I've yet to try it out because I needed to buy a current iPod, but the shop advised they tested it and works great!
The unit will only work with 4th generation iPods or newer, iPod mini, iPod U2 SE and iPod Nano. There is now a loose cable in my glove box that plugs into the iPod. I might relocate the cable to the center console and buy a holder for it. The iPod must be run from the vehicle's CD stereo controls and not the iPod.
I was given a quick start guide and a computer CD that includes a 19 page .pdf manual and Acura TSS software to install on the iPod that provides voice prompts to find music. The software is optional an not needed to run the iPod. Music is loaded from iTunes software and keys off of the information tags of songs. It sets up a separate playlist library and takes about 10-15 min for each 1000 songs read.
Once the iPod is connected to the cable in the glovebox, a green check mark appears on the iPod display. You'll need to setup if you want to search by playlist, artist, album, genre, shuffle albums or songs, by pressing Disc 1 to 6 on the vehicle's CD player and holding the seek/skip button. After that, you can access the music. The Apple website has great tutorials for using the iPod and iTunes.
That's it for now but hopefully this helped someone. MDX'r05. javascript:smilie('')
