Hello fellow MDXers. I'm a long time reader of this forum, but first time poster. Thanks for all the valuable info all of you post on a regular basis. Now the problem:
I have a 2005 Silver MDX Touring with navi no res.
I bought it new in July 2005 and have experienced extremely annoying whistles from the sunroof at speeds in excess of 70mph. I took it in several times and my dealer could't pinpoint the noise. Third time I took it in (last week) and they just ordered and installed an entire new sunroof and now the noise is WORSE!!!
I'm growing really tired of taking it into them for service and don't want to get the sunroof wind deflector (I assume this would fix it). Any advice on how to fix this problem?
I equate the problem to getting a small piece of food (let's say from popcorn) stuck in your teeth and you can't get it out so it drives you crazy. Please be my toothpick on this. |

| Maybe I missed something but is the noise present with the sunroof open or closed? |

You let them install a whole new moon roof??
Good luck with that!! |

| Have you tried the masking tape thing for debugging/troubleshooting?? |

Thanks for the responses.
The whistle occurs when the roof is 100% closed at speeds in excess of 65-70mph and seems to come from the front of the sunroof.
Have not tried the masking tape thing as I'm not sure where to start. |

[FONT=arial]We are new to this board and are very excited to talk with others who may have some of the same issues that we have been having with our 03 MDX
The first thing that I searched was the whistling noise that I hear from my sunroof, while closed at low speeds. I don't notice the noise while going faster however, while driving down the highway I can not open sunroof and listen to the radio.
I talked with the dealer about the noise and they greased the seal....whatever that did, it didn't help.
Do you recommend the deflector?
We have a 03' MDX touring, navigation with ALL the trim. (it was an executives car for one year so when they ask options they just say "yes")
Thanks for the input.

The whistle may be from the roof racks. Try putting a strip of wide masking tape across the opening of the front roof rack. If the whistle disappears, that's the culprit.
I forget how to fix it, but that's the next step. |

The deflector works well for cutting noise while the roof is open. I suspect it would work for when the roof is closed.
Also, closing the sun shade cuts down on noise (and heat inside during summer) |
